VeePN Review 2026: Is It the Best Basic VPN?

While the basics worked well with VeePN, we struggled to get some features to work correctly or even at all.

VeePN promises a simple, privacy-focused VPN experience with an easy interface and strong encryption. We appreciate that VeePN offers specialty servers for streaming and double VPN functionality as well as a headquarters outside the Eyes alliances.

However, our hands-on testing showed inconsistent performance, especially when it came to server reliability. In this updated VeePN review, we break down everything you need to know, including pricing, performance test results, and how VeePN compares to other top VPNs.

How we test and rate VPNs

We complete standardized hands-on tests for each VPN we review so we can put their claims to the test. This includes vigorous third-party testing by comparing our internet speed while connected to different servers, checking for DNS leaks, making sure the kill switch actually works, and more. We also make sure we can comfortably access popular streaming sites, like Netflix, and still do our day-to-day work without interruption.

Once we’ve completed the testing, our editorial rating is calculated by taking into account key features you’d expect from a good product. We score each VPN in the following categories and use a weighted average to calculate the final rating out of 5 stars: price, server count, speed, security, and features.

Star rating summary

VeePN has a solid star rating of 4.7 and offers a clean, user-friendly interface with strong privacy credentials, including a no-logs policy and a headquarters in Panama outside the Eyes Alliance.

However, inconsistent performance, like our need to repeatedly swap protocols and servers, holds it back from being one of our top recommendations.

Our experience

Our most recent experience with VeePN was solid, but there were still issues. We installed this virtual private network (VPN) on our MacBook running macOS Tahoe.

VeePN successful installation window

VeePN has a clean and clearly labeled interface. It starts by recommending your optimal location and it has tabs for all settings on the left-hand side.

VeePN dashboard connected to optimal location

We were initially impressed with VeePN's list of streaming servers. There are options for countries in North America, Asia, and Europe, and there are options for many streaming services like Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime Video, and more.

In the past, the streaming servers kept giving us errors. Netflix has detected VeePN, so we couldn't stream or we had to troubleshoot by switching servers. Most recently, the Australian streaming server wouldn't load any streams, so we needed to switch to another server.

Although we like how user-friendly VeePN's interface is, the issues we've encountered may be too troublesome.

Verdict: 4/5. VeePN's interface is clean and beginner-friendly, but repeated issues with streaming servers could make for a frustrating hands-on experience. However, VeePN's kill switch worked this time, so we hope to see continued improvements.

VeePN prices and plans

VeePN now costs between $1.99-$20.85/mo. It previously only had one subscription type but now it offers a Basic, Pro, and Max tier. You can purchase each subscription on a monthly, one-year, or two-year term.

The cost of VeePN is cheaper if you pay for a one-year or two-year plan. To save money on a VPN, select the two-year plan for long-term savings.

Plan 1-month plan 1-year plan 2-year plan
VeePN Basic $15.45/mo $3.19/mo $1.99/mo
VeePN Pro $17.95/mo $3.39/mo $2.49/mo
VeePN Max $20.85/mo $6.29/mo $4.19/mo

VeePN offers a 14-day or 30-day money-back guarantee depending on your plan. If you purchase a one-month plan, you have 14 days for the money-back guarantee. The one-year plan gives you 30 days to get your money back.

The VeePN Basic tier includes the VPN, an ad blocker, and alternative IDs. It also maxes out at five simultaneous connections. The VeePN Pro and VeePN Max tiers are more like cybersecurity bundles if you need more comprehensive protection.

Both Pro and Max include VeePN's antivirus; breach alerts for email, credit cards, and personal identification; and identity masking, with the ability to create alternative personas and emails. The only difference between the two tiers is that VeePN Pro maxes out at 10 device connections and VeePN Max increases that number to 20.

Verdict: 5/5. VeePN's tiered pricing is competitive, and the Basic plan offers solid value for anyone who just needs a reliable VPN with an ad blocker. The Pro and Max tiers expand into a full cybersecurity bundle at a reasonable price point, making VeePN one of the better-value options in its category.

VeePN features

VeePN offers the standard VPN features, such as a kill switch and split tunneling, along with extras like optimized servers and an ad blocker. We'll detail all of VeePN's features below.

Verdict: 4.75/5. VeePN checks the boxes for standard VPN features — kill switch, split tunneling, multiple protocols, and an ad blocker — and goes further with streaming-optimized servers and double VPN support.

Server count and countries

  • 2,600+ servers in 85 countries

VeePN has a robust list of server locations, allowing you to find a server that works best for your needs. It also has server locations in 85 countries, so you can access geo-restricted content like Netflix streaming libraries easily.

VeePN list of servers

We like that it offers servers specifically for streaming and for double VPN. The streaming servers should help maintain fast speeds without lag or glitches. The double VPN servers will cover your connection with two servers instead of one for additional security.

No-logs policy and headquarters

  • VeePN logs policy: No logs
  • VeePN headquarters: Panama

In its privacy policy, VeePN outlines the information it collects. VeePN collects data when a new customer signs up for an account, including your name, email address, and payment information.

It also collects information about how you use your device, such as the type of device, how often you use the VPN, or what features are used most often. VeePN says that this information is used to improve user experience, manage your account, and communicate with users.

Most VPNs collect this type of information for normal operations. The usage data gives companies insights on how to improve their product or create new features.

VeePN doesn't keep usage logs, and it doesn't collect IP addresses or log any of your activity while using the VPN.

VeePN is also headquartered in Panama, which is outside of the Eyes alliances and doesn't have data retention laws.

Kill switch

VeePN has a kill switch, which can be turned on in the privacy settings of the app. A kill switch gives you peace of mind that you won't unknowingly use the internet if your VPN gets disconnected. It stops your internet access if your VPN becomes disconnected.

VeePN pop-up to enable the kill switch

Split tunneling

VeePN's website touts that the service offers split tunneling. On the Windows app, navigate to Settings, then select the VPN settings button. From there, you'll be able to dictate which apps should be routed through the VPN and which should bypass the VPN.

VPN protocols

You have several protocol options when using VeePN, including OpenVPN, IKEv2, WireGuard, and Shadowsocks protocols. You can easily swap protocols from the general settings tab.

Privacy protection

VeePN has its own ad blocker feature. It can help you avoid malicious websites, stop trackers, and remove pop-up ads for a better browsing experience.

VeePN privacy protection settings and toggles

On the Windows and macOS apps, you can toggle on various switches depending on what you want to block. This is the same on the browser extension as well. On iOS, you can just turn on the NetGuard feature in your settings.

VeePN test results

When we evaluate a VPN, we look at several ways the VPN impacts your daily activities, including how the VPN affects internet speed, whether it allows you to stream from Netflix or other platforms, and if the VPN is truly protecting your IP address and website usage.

Verdict: 5/5. VeePN impressed us with its speed results, actually increasing our download speeds on most servers we tested. It also successfully unblocked all four Netflix libraries and passed both DNS and WebRTC leak tests. The kill switch failure is a notable blemish, but overall test performance was strong.

Speed tests

  • Speed test results: VeePN decreased our download speeds by an average of 25%.

We started testing by measuring VeePN's impact on our laptop's speed. First, we ran a speed test without VeePN connected to determine our baseline speed.

Baseline speed test before testing VeePN (559.24 download, 205.98 upload, 15 ping)

Then, we connected to servers in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Australia to determine how much VeePN will impact our download speeds, upload speeds, and latency.

Test type No VPN US to US US to CA US to EU US to AU
Download speed 559.24 Mbps 465.20 Mbps 393.03 Mbps 426.38 Mbps 395.43 Mbps

Test results as of 03/27/2026.

First, we selected VeePN's optimal location option and ensured we were using the WireGuard protocol, which is best for speed. This server dropped our download speeds by about 17% and it increased our upload speeds.

Speed test results for VeePN while connected to a McAllen server (199.94 download, 298.46 upload, 92 latency)

On the other hand, VeePN increased our latency exponentially with all the servers we tested. It's normal for your ping to increase as you select servers further from your location, but the jump was more dramatic than we expected from a U.S. to U.S. server connection.

Overall, VeePN's impact on our download speed was better than average VPN performance, and it kept our upload speed either stable or improved.

Netflix tests

  • Netflix test results: VeePN successfully unblocked all the Netflix libraries we tested, but not without issues.

If you're looking to access new streaming content, a VPN can give you access to geo-restricted libraries across the world. Streaming services like Netflix have different libraries based on your location, so there may be titles available in Australia that you can't stream in the U.S.

US to US US to UK US to CA US to AU
Did it work with Netflix?
Test results as of 11/18/2025.

Not all VPNs work well with streaming services, and, in some cases, the streaming service may block IP addresses that are known to be part of a VPN. Although VeePN unblocked all the libraries we tried, it did require us to change servers.

First, we connected to a Canadian server to stream its library, but Netflix would only show us the U.S. library. We tried swapping to other servers, clearing our cache, and opening Netflix in an incognito window. Once we switched to IKEv2, the Netflix Canada library appeared.

Then, we tried the Australia streaming server, but our stream would load endlessly. Once we swapped to a regular Australia server, we could load the stream.

We were disappointed that VeePN has a whole list of streaming-optimized servers but some don't work. We also wish VeePN didn't require so much tinkering for different activities.

DNS leak tests

  • DNS leak test results: VeePN passed its DNS leak test.

A DNS leak test gives information, including your location and IP address. When connected to the VPN, your device should be using a DNS different from that of your internet service provider.

No leaks were detected in VeePN's DNS leak protection tests.

VeePN's DNS leak test results (passed)

WebRTC leak test

  • WebRTC leak test results: VeePN passed its WebRTC leak test.

We also conducted a WebRTC leak test that checks to see if your IP address is being exposed while connected to the VPN.

The WebRTC test is based on Web Real-Time Communication, which is a technology used for video chat and voice services. The WebRTC test shows if your VPN is still displaying your actual IP address when connected to the VPN.

VeePN's WebRTC leak test results (passed).

Kill switch test

  • Kill switch test results: VeePN passed its kill switch test.

A kill switch protects your device from unexpected connection drops. If you're using public Wi-Fi and your VPN fails, a kill switch will stop your internet entirely so your device won't be exposed to unwanted third parties.

After enabling the kill switch, we opened ipleak.net while connected to an Austrian server. Then, we switched to a server in Australia, but our true location remained hidden.

VeePN compatibility

When purchasing a VPN solution, you'll want one that is compatible with all of your devices. VeePN supports a variety of devices, including:

  • Windows 10+ (legacy app for Windows 7-8)
  • macOS 12+
  • Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, CentOS, and Arch)
  • Android 9+
  • iOS 17
  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Apple TV
  • Fire TV
  • Android TV
  • PlayStation
  • Xbox
  • Routers

Verdict: 5/5. VeePN's compatibility is one of its strongest suits, covering all major operating systems, browsers, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and routers. Few VPNs in this category offer this breadth of device support.

VeePN customer support

VeePN's customer support options are easy to find, and users get quite a few options to find solutions to any issues. However, we had some issues with the live chat.

Live chat

Since we had some connection issues when using VeePN, we tried out the live chat to see if we could get some help.

A screenshot of a chatbot conversation with VeePN customer support.

The agent sent over instructions for a solution, but the boilerplate was missing key information for completing the suggested fix. When we asked the live agent about this, they couldn't give us any further instructions outside of what they had already said. They couldn't provide a solution to our connection issues.

A screenshot of VeePN support option icons, like troubleshoot now, connect to live chat, and get VeePN setup instructions.

Email

VeePN claims to have 24/7 email support as well. You can either send an email to support@veepn.com or submit a support ticket on the site.

Knowledge base

VeePN also has several online guides you can use to fix issues on your own. You can choose the Troubleshoot Now option, Set Up VeePN option, or search through the support articles.

VeePN user reviews

  • Apple App Store rating: 4.5
  • Google Play Store rating: 4.4
  • Trustpilot rating: 4.5

VeePN earns high marks across all three platforms, with users consistently praising its speed and ease of use. However, some App Store and Google Play reviewers flag frustration with the cancellation process, noting that subscriptions can be difficult to manage.

This tracks with our own experience — while VeePN performs well on paper, the inconsistent feature reliability and tinkering required to get streaming and the kill switch working are sticking points that don't always surface in general user ratings.

Verdict: 5/5. VeePN offers multiple support channels — live chat, email, and a knowledge base — that are easy to locate. While our live chat experience was underwhelming, the availability of 24/7 email support and self-help guides gives users plenty of options to find assistance.

Top alternatives

Since we had a few problems with getting VeePN's features working correctly, we recommend an alternative. We'd suggest using one of these VPNs if you need to ensure your information is encrypted because of censorship or other concerns.

Bottom line: Is VeePN good?

Overall, VeePN is a basic VPN you can rely on to mask your IP address or do some streaming. Although we've recorded a history of performance issues with VeePN, we connected to servers and enabled the kill switch without any roadblocks, so VeePN has shown signs of improvement.

On the other hand, VeePN doesn't have the most competitive pricing when compared to our recommended alternatives. VeePN may be a good VPN for the basics, but there are more reliable VPNs available with more competitive pricing.
