What we didn’t like

We were hoping that at least the first-year plan would be included with the purchase, but that’s not the case. Hopefully, ExpressVPN will offer a bundle deal for the router and VPN service, if only an introductory one.

The router still works if you don’t have a subscription, but you won’t have VPN coverage. Since ExpressVPN is one of the more expensive options, it’s a bummer that this is the only VPN company with a proprietary router. Configuring a VPN on your router can be a pain, so this is an easy option.
