KeepSolid VPN Unlimited
  • User-friendly
  • Offers dedicated IP addresses

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is a decent virtual private network (VPN) provider. It has an intuitive user interface suitable for novice users and a good server network, with more than 3,000 servers in 80-plus countries worldwide.

However, we find its data collection policies concerning. KeepSolid admits to sharing and storing your data with third parties in spite of claiming it has a no-logs policy. It also had some significant slowdowns during our speed tests, particularly while connected to servers in Canada and the U.K.

On the whole, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is a good VPN that offers strong security features but it needs improvement in terms of speed and privacy policies. It's worth considering if you're looking for an easy-to-use service, but bear in mind its limitations.

Pros
  • Offers dedicated IP addresses
  • User-friendly
  • Decent speeds on some servers
Cons
  • Concerning privacy policy

How we test and rate VPNs

We complete standardized hands-on tests for each VPN we review so we can put their claims to the test. This includes vigorous third-party testing by comparing our internet speed while connected to different servers, checking for DNS leaks, making sure the kill switch actually works, and more. We also make sure we can comfortably access popular streaming sites, like Netflix, and still do our day-to-day work without interruption.

Once we’ve completed the testing, our editorial rating is calculated by taking into account key features you’d expect from a good product. We score each VPN in the following categories and use a weighted average to calculate the final rating out of 5 stars: price, server count, speed, security, and features.

Our experience

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited had a straightforward installation process. You just need to visit the KeepSolid website to download the app onto your preferred device.

As soon as we downloaded the app, KeepSolid tried to upsell us on the paid plan but after that point there were no more attempts.

VPN Unlimited has a map interface, which makes it easy for novice users to understand what servers are available and where. You can also select the locations tab on the lefthand side to view the full list of servers or search for a server. Overall, we found it to be a user-friendly VPN service.

Who is KeepSolid VPN Unlimited best for?

  • Recommended for individuals for occasional use and accessing geo-restricted content.

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is well-suited for individuals who need to access geo-restricted content or bypass government censorship. We were able to unblock Netflix while connected to unblock Netflix regional libraries in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. (but not Australia). Its plans also include a dedicated IP address feature, so you can have a personal IP address that no one else can use.

VPN Unlimited’s personal plan is also a good option if you don't require more than five simultaneous connections. This could work for individuals who wants enhanced security while browsing the internet, but that number could be lacking for large families.

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited prices and subscriptions

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers several subscription plans to meet the needs of different users.

  • Its one-month plan is the most basic, and it comes at a price point of $9.99/mo.
  • Its one-year plan is slightly discounted, costing $5.00/mo (billed annually).
  • Finally, KeepSolid’s Lifetime plan gives users access to their services forever for a $199.99 (one-time payment).

Compared to other VPNs, KeepSolid’s pricing is on the higher side. You'll get a better deal if you opt for one of the longer-term plans or the lifetime deal.

But in our opinion, there are better VPNs out there for the price. VPN Unlimited only allows for five simultaneous connections (without paying more) and has a dicey privacy policy.

Alternatively, NordVPN has a privacy-friendly headquarters in Panama and strict no-logs policy and it starts at $3.39/mo (billed every two years). There's also Surfshark, which has unlimited simultaneous connections and starts at $2.19/mo (billed every two years).

Plan 1-month plan 1-year plan Lifetime plan
Price $9.99/mo $5.00/mo (billed annually) $199.99 (one-time payment)

As far as payment methods, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited accepts the following:

  • Credit or debit cards
  • PayPal
  • AmazonPay
  • Bitpay
  • Paymentwall

KeepSolid offers a seven-day free trial for all of its services. It also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited features

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers good security and privacy features. Its AES-256 encryption ensures your data is always secure, whereas its selection of VPN protocols allows you to find the right balance between speed and security. Additionally, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers extras like two-factor authentication, a personal static IP address, a personal VPN server, and more at an additional price.

It does have slow speeds on some servers, and it might not be a good option for torrenting due to its relatively slow ping speed. However, its simple user interface makes it easy for users of all levels to understand and use.

Server count and countries

  • 3,000-plus servers in 80 countries

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited has over 3,000 servers across 80 locations worldwide. The latest server list is updated and located within the app for easy reference. The locations are spread out across multiple regions in Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Africa.

All servers have complete security protocols and encryption standards, such as AES-256 and OpenVPN protocol, to keep your data secure at all times. KeepSolid also offer specialty servers for various streaming services and for torrenting.

No-logs policy and headquarters

  • KeepSolid VPN Unlimited logs policy: Some logs
  • KeepSolid VPN Unlimited headquarters: New York

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited states it does "NOT monitor, store, or log your internet activities during your session in the VPN products." However, it does mention that "We NEVER store or log your IP address after the end of your session," and later confirms your IP address is collected during sessions, among other data. It also admits to collecting your information from third parties, social networks, and other "publicly accessible sources.”

No-log policies are important in the digital age, as they allow you to maintain privacy and anonymity while using the Internet. Without a no-logs policy, your activities online would be tracked and stored by companies, which allows them to use this information for targeted marketing or other purposes.

Because KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is headquartered in New York, its policy is subject to U.S. law, so it could be required to turn over any information it has stored on users (including logs) if requested by the police or other government authorities. The U.S. is also part of the Five Eyes alliance, which means it may be obligated to cooperate in data collection and sharing.

In order to avoid logging altogether, it's important to choose a VPN provider located outside of the alliance countries.

Kill switch

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited has a kill switch feature. A kill switch is an essential privacy and security protection tool that shuts down internet access if the VPN connection suddenly drops. This helps prevent any of your data from being exposed to potential eavesdroppers or hackers by blocking network traffic if the connection unexpectedly fails.

Split tunneling

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited also has a split tunneling feature. Split tunneling allows you to choose which data should be sent through the VPN tunnel and which data travels directly to its destination, bypassing your virtual privacy shield.

Split tunneling is important for those who want to use their VPN service to protect some components of their digital life while still having access to certain services that require high-speed connections, such as streaming video or gaming. It also allows you to bypass censorship in countries with restrictive government regulations on internet access by tunneling traffic through the VPN.

Encryption

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited ensures your data security by using the highest level of encryption available, AES-256.

This is a secure and reliable form of encryption, which can be used for both commercial and military purposes. It involves complex algorithms that ensure your online activity remains private and confidential. Any information passing through KeepSolid VPN servers will be completely encrypted to stop hackers or any other third parties from accessing it.

AES-256 encryption is also resistant to brute force attacks, which means it can't be cracked with traditional methods of hacking. As such, this is a strong form of encryption that will keep your online activity private and secure.

VPN protocol

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited utilizes several different protocols to provide users with a secure and private connection.

The most popular and widely used protocol is IKEv2, which is a strong protocol that offers top-level security when used with strong encryption algorithms. Another available protocol is OpenVPN, which also offers excellent security. KeepSolid VPN Unlimited also uses the WireGuard protocol, which is quickly becoming one of the most popular VPN protocols due to its strong encryption and fast speeds.

KeepSolid Wise is a proprietary protocol built from the ground up to provide users with a secure connection. The KeepSolid Wise protocol also includes an enhanced encryption algorithm and it ensures the highest level of protection when connected through KeepSolid VPN Unlimited.

Bonus features

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers add-ons for an additional price:

  • Personal server
  • Personal IP address
  • Extra VPN connections for up to 10 devices

A personal VPN server gives you a dedicated connection with no limitations on bandwidth or data transfer speeds. A personalized IP address helps protect your online identity by making it impossible to trace your online activity back to you.

MonoDefense bundle

You can also opt for the MonoDefense bundle, which comes with VPN service and additional security features including:

  • Passwarden: This password manager keeps your passwords safely stored in an encrypted vault so you don't have to worry about remembering them all.
  • DNS Firewall: The firewall stops phishing attempts and malware by blocking malicious domains. You can customize the blocklist as needed.
  • SmartDNS: This app helps you access geo-restricted services like Netflix. If you have issues using KeepSolid VPN Unlimited to unblock Netflix, SmartDNS might help.

MonoDefense also has an authenticator app, which is an ideal way to beef up your security using two-factor authentication

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited test results

We tested KeepSolid VPN Unlimited to evaluate its performance and determine its speed, streaming ability, and security. Our testing included downloading files from various server locations around the world and determining whether we could watch Netflix with this VPN. We also connected to multiple servers in different countries and checked for IP address leaks.

Overall, our tests revealed that KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is a reliable VPN service with decent speeds, strong encryption protocols. It should be noted that there were some issues with speed and reliability when connected to faraway servers, but overall, the service performed alright.

Speed tests

  • Speed test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited struggled significantly with Canada and U.K. server locations but worked well with the U.S. and Australia server locations.

We recently put KeepSolid VPN Unlimited to the test, in order to assess its speed performance. We used a PC laptop running Windows 11 for our testing.

Test type No VPN US to US US to CA US to EU US to AU
Download speed 367.21 Mbps 321.17 Mbps 64.17 Mbps 20.92 Mbps 226.65 Mbps

Test results as of 05/21/2024.

There was minimal impact on our speed with the U.S. server, having only dropped our download speeds about 12%. We were also surprised to find that the Australia server didn't impact our speeds as much, considering how far it is from our phyesical location.

However, when connecting through Canadian servers, the speeds were slower than expected — though still within an acceptable range for most streaming. The same did not hold true for U.K. servers; the lag was noticeable and made it difficult to even browse.

Netflix tests

  • Netflix test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited unblocked Netflix libraries in the U.S., Canada, and U.K., but failed to unblock Netflix Australia.

During our tests of KeepSolid VPN Unlimited, we were pleased to find it allowed us to bypass Netflix’s geo-restrictions in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. We connected to servers located in these areas, and we had no issues streaming Netflix content or playing HD videos with minimal buffering.

We then tested out Australian servers, but Netflix blocked us immediately. There weren't any alternate server locations for us to test or streaming-optimized servers, so we were unable to unblock Netflix Australia.

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is an adequate choice for those seeking to access Netflix content from abroad, especially with its streaming-optimized servers. However, for viewers accessing from Australia, other VPN services may serve as better options.

DNS leak tests

  • DNS leak test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited passed its DNS leak tests.

We conducted a DNS leak test for KeepSolid VPN Unlimited to verify its performance in protecting users' online privacy. DNS stands for Domain Name System and is an essential part of the internet infrastructure that translates domain names into IP addresses. A DNS leak test determines whether sensitive data leaks when connecting through a VPN.

For our testing, we connected to one of the servers offered by KeepSolid VPN Unlimited and used multiple tools to check whether there were any DNS leaks on the connection. We found no evidence of DNS leaks while using its services, so you can securely browse and access content without risking your personal data being exposed.

WebRTC leak tests

  • WebRTC leak test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited passed its WebRTC leak tests.

WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) is an open-source project that helps enable web browsers to exchange real-time communications without the need for a plugin. It supports video, audio, and data communication over various protocols including UDP, TCP, SCTP, and DTLS. WebRTC is used by many different voice over internet protocol (VoIP) applications and services such as Skype, Google Hangouts, Discord, and WhatsApp.

We conducted a comprehensive WebRTC leak test to ensure KeepSolid was not leaking any unencrypted traffic through the user's browser or other connected devices. We tested multiple servers across different countries to determine whether any leaks were present in the WebRTC stack. Thankfully, we did not experience any WebRTC leaks on the servers we tested.

Kill switch test

  • Kill switch test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited passed its kill switch test.

Using a kill switch ensures you remain anonymous while browsing online, as it prevents your real IP address from being revealed should the outage occur. We connected to a server on the east coast and swapped to a server in Los Angeles, but KeepSolid VPN Unlimited didn't leak our true IP address.

It’s important to note that not all VPN services offer this feature, so those valuing their privacy and security should keep this in mind when choosing a service.

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited customer support

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers customer support in the form of a knowledge base and email.

Knowledge base

KeepSolid offers an extensive FAQ section as its knowledge base. On this page, you can find answers to general questions, work with the application, technical questions, account and payment questions, and troubleshooting.

Email

If you  can’t find answers through the FAQs, they can submit a request through the website or send an email to support. Unfortunately, this service isn’t always reliable; when we tested it out, we didn’t get a reply from anyone on our support ticket after a couple of days.

In conclusion, customer service options with KeepSolid VPN Unlimited are limited, so you may not be able to get timely assistance should any issues arise.
