KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is a decent VPN that's tailored for VPN beginners and casual users. There's a map interface where you can easily select where to connect, tons of streaming-optimized servers, and servers labeled by server load.
However, KeepSolid's kill switch either completely cuts off our internet or fails to hide our true location during testing. Its privacy policy also admits to sharing and storing data with third parties.
If you're not too concerned about data security, KeepSolid's VPN might check your boxes. In this review, we’ll break down its strengths and shortcomings to help you decide.
- Expansive server network of 3,000+ servers

How we test and rate VPNs
We complete standardized hands-on tests for each VPN we review so we can put their claims to the test. This includes vigorous third-party testing by comparing our internet speed while connected to different servers, checking for DNS leaks, making sure the kill switch actually works, and more. We also make sure we can comfortably access popular streaming sites, like Netflix, and still do our day-to-day work without interruption.
Once we’ve completed the testing, our editorial rating is calculated by taking into account key features you’d expect from a good product. We score each VPN in the following categories and use a weighted average to calculate the final rating out of 5 stars: price, server count, speed, security, and features.
To learn more about how we test, check out our full VPN methodology here.
We last tested KeepSolid VPN Unlimited on July 29, 2025.
Our experience
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited has a user-friendly interface, but we've experienced some speed and security issues while using the service. During this round of testing, we downloaded the service on our Macbook running macOS Sequoia.
VPN Unlimited has a map interface, which makes it easy for novice users to understand what servers are available and where. The dashboard starts by listing an optimal server location, which should give you the best speeds.
During our latest test, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited only dropped our speeds by about 2% while connected to the optimal server. But the other servers we tested dropped our speeds by 44% to 67%, so it's not the best VPN for speed.
You can also select the locations tab on the lefthand side to view the full list of servers or search for a server. We like that KeepSolid VPN Unlimited has servers for various streaming services, although they all seem to be based in the U.S.
When we tested the PC app, KeepSolid's kill switch failed to work. The feature would either kill our internet completely, despite being connected to a server, or would struggle to connect to a server at all.
With the Mac app, we could connect to servers and load pages with the kill switch toggled on. However, our true location immediately appeared as we switched servers despite having the kill switch on.
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited does have slow speeds on some servers but its simple user interface makes it easy for users of all levels to understand and use.
Who is KeepSolid VPN Unlimited best for?
- Recommended for individuals for occasional use and accessing geo-restricted content.
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is well-suited for individuals who need to access geo-restricted content or bypass government censorship. We were able to unblock Netflix regional libraries in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Australia.
Its plans also include a dedicated IP address feature, so you can have a personal IP address that no one else can use.
VPN Unlimited’s personal plan is also a good option if you don't require more than five simultaneous connections. This could work for individuals who want enhanced security while browsing the internet, but that number could be lacking for large families.
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited prices and subscriptions
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers several subscription plans that range from $2.75-$9.00/mo. You can pay monthly, annually, every three years, or one-time lifetime payment.
You'll get a better deal if you opt for one of the longer-term plans or the lifetime deal. But compared to other VPNs, KeepSolid VPN’s pricing is typically more expensive.
For instance, NordVPN starts at $3.39/mo (billed every two years) and it has a privacy-friendly headquarters, audited no-logs policy, and plenty of extras like an ad blocker and Smart DNS. There's also Surfshark, which allows for unlimited simultaneous connections and starts at $1.99/mo (billed every two years).
But in our opinion, there are better VPNs out there for the price. VPN Unlimited only allows for five simultaneous connections (without paying more) and has a dicey privacy policy.
Plan | 1-month plan | 1-year plan | 3-year plan | Lifetime plan |
Price | $9.99/mo | $5.00/mo (billed annually) | $2.75/mo (billed every three years) | $199.99/once |
As far as payment methods, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited accepts the following:
- Credit or debit cards
- PayPal
- AmazonPay
- Bitpay
- Paymentwall

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited features
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers good security and privacy features. Its AES-256 encryption ensures your data is always secure, whereas its selection of VPN protocols allows you to find the right balance between speed and security.
Additionally, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers add-ons like two-factor authentication, a personal static IP address, a personal VPN server, and more.
Server count and countries
- 3,000+ servers in 52 countries
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited has 3,000+ servers in 52 countries. The latest server list is updated and located within the app for easy reference. The locations are spread out across multiple regions in Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Africa.
All servers have complete security protocols and encryption standards, such as AES-256 and OpenVPN protocol, to keep your data secure at all times. KeepSolid also offers specialty servers for various streaming services.
No-logs policy and headquarters
- KeepSolid VPN Unlimited logs policy: Some logs
- KeepSolid VPN Unlimited headquarters: United States
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited states it does "NOT monitor, store, or log your internet activities during your session in the VPN products." However, it does mention that "We NEVER store or log your IP address after the end of your session," and later confirms your IP address is collected during sessions, among other data.
KeepSolid also admits to collecting your information from third parties, social networks, and other "publicly accessible sources.”
No-log policies are important in the digital age, as they allow you to maintain privacy and anonymity while using the Internet. Without a no-logs policy, your activities online would be tracked and stored by companies, which allows them to use this information for targeted marketing or other purposes.
Because KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is headquartered in New York, its policy is subject to U.S. law, so it could be required to turn over any information it has stored on users (including logs) if requested by the police or other government authorities. The U.S. is also part of the Five Eyes alliance, which means it may be obligated to cooperate in data collection and sharing.
In order to avoid logging altogether, it's important to choose a VPN provider located outside of the alliance countries. We would also feel better if KeepSolid had submitted its logs policy for a third-party audit, but we couldn't find any record of one.
Kill switch
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited has a kill switch feature. You can find this feature by going to Settings > Network Settings.
A kill switch is an essential privacy and security protection tool that shuts down internet access if the VPN connection suddenly drops. This helps prevent any of your data from being exposed to potential eavesdroppers or hackers by blocking network traffic if the connection unexpectedly fails.
Split tunneling
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited also has a split tunneling feature. Split tunneling allows you to choose which data should be sent through the VPN tunnel and which data travels directly to its destination, bypassing your virtual privacy shield.
Split tunneling allows you to protect specific components of your digital life while still accessing services that require high-speed connections or local IPs, such as streaming video or gaming.
It also allows you to bypass censorship in countries with restrictive government regulations on internet access by tunneling traffic through the VPN.
Encryption
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited ensures your data security by using the highest level of encryption available, AES-256.
This is a secure and reliable form of encryption, which can be used for both commercial and military purposes. It involves complex algorithms that ensure your online activity remains private and confidential.
Any information passing through KeepSolid VPN servers will be completely encrypted to help stop hackers or any other third parties from accessing it.
VPN protocol
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited utilizes several different protocols to provide users with a secure and private connection.
The most popular and widely used protocol is IKEv2, which is a strong protocol that offers top-level security when used with strong encryption algorithms. Another available protocol is OpenVPN, which also offers excellent security. KeepSolid VPN Unlimited also uses the WireGuard protocol, which is quickly becoming one of the most popular VPN protocols due to its strong encryption and fast speeds.
KeepSolid Wise is a proprietary protocol built from the ground up to provide users with a secure connection. The KeepSolid Wise protocol also includes an enhanced encryption algorithm and it ensures the highest level of protection when connected through KeepSolid VPN Unlimited.
Bonus features
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers add-ons for an additional price:
- Personal server
- Personal IP address
A personal VPN server gives you a dedicated connection with no limitations on bandwidth or data transfer speeds. A personalized IP address helps protect your online identity by making it impossible to trace your online activity back to you.
You can also opt for the MonoDefense bundle, which comes with VPN service and additional security features including:
- Passwarden: This password manager keeps your passwords safely stored in an encrypted vault so you don't have to worry about remembering them all.
- DNS Firewall: The firewall stops phishing attempts and malware by blocking malicious domains. You can customize the blocklist as needed.
- SmartDNS: This app helps you access geo-restricted services like Netflix. If you have issues using KeepSolid VPN Unlimited to unblock Netflix, SmartDNS might help.
MonoDefense also has an authenticator app, which is an ideal way to beef up your security using two-factor authentication.
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited test results
We tested KeepSolid VPN Unlimited to evaluate its performance and determine its speed, streaming ability, and security. Our testing included connecting to server locations around the world and determining whether we could watch Netflix with this VPN. We also connected to multiple servers in different countries and checked for IP address leaks.
Our tests revealed that KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is a reliable VPN service with . It should be noted that there were some issues with speed and reliability when connected to faraway servers, but overall, the service performed alright.
Speed tests
- Speed test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited slowed our download speeds by an average of 37%.
We recently put KeepSolid VPN Unlimited to the test, in order to assess its speed performance. First, we took a speed test prior to connecting to KeepSolid VPN Unlimited in order to establish a baseline.
Then, we connected to servers across the world and took new speed tests in order to calculate how much KeepSolid VPN Unlimited was impacting our speeds.
Test type | No VPN | US to US | US to CA | US to EU | US to AU |
Download speed | 509.46 Mbps | 498.08 Mbps | 163.80 Mbps | 193.89 Mbps | 281.92 Mbps |
Upload speed | 425.47 Mbps | 293.41 Mbps | 72.16 Mbps | 35.61 Mbps | 107.34 Mbps |
Latency (ping) | 19 ms | 20 ms | 65 ms | 124 ms | 195 ms |
Download speed % difference | N/A | -2.23% | -67.85% | -61.94% | -44.66% |
Upload speed % difference | N/A | -31.04% | -83.04% | -91.63% | -74.77% |
Latency % difference | N/A | +5.26% | +242.11% | +552.63% | 926.32% |
We always start by selecting the recommended/optimal server option (if the VPN has one). KeepSolid VPN Unlimited's optimal location connected us to a server in Houston, which only dropped our download speed by about 2%. Whereas in previous tests, the optimal server dropped our speed by 31%.
However, our speed test results were inconsistent moving forward. We were surprised that the Australia server didn't impact our speeds nearly as much as the Canada and U.K. servers, considering how much farther it is from our physical location. Australia only had a 44% drop on download speed while Canada and the U.K. had over 60% drops.
Faraway servers typically decrease your speeds and increase your ping more depending on the distance from your physical location. KeepSolid VPN Unlimited seems to work well with nearby server locations, but may be more of a mixed bag if you choose international servers.
Netflix tests
- Netflix test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited unblocked Netflix U.S., Canada, U.K., and Australia.
Netflix can be a big stickler when it comes to VPN use. If Netflix detects that you're using a VPN, it will block you from streaming until you turn off the service.
During our tests of KeepSolid VPN Unlimited, we were pleased that it allowed us to bypass Netflix’s geo-restrictions with ease across all the libraries we tested. We connected to servers located in these areas, and we had no lag or buffering while streaming Netflix content.
US to US | US to UK | US to CA | US to AU | |
Did it work with Netflix? |
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is an adequate choice for those seeking to access Netflix content from abroad. We especially like that it has streaming-optimized servers for services like Netflix, Hulu, Max, and more. We also found that certain countries, like the U.K., will have their own servers labeled for streaming.
DNS leak tests
- DNS leak test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited passed its DNS leak tests.
We conducted a DNS leak test for KeepSolid VPN Unlimited to verify its performance in protecting users' online privacy. DNS stands for Domain Name System and is an essential part of the internet infrastructure that translates domain names into IP addresses. A DNS leak test determines whether sensitive data leaks when connecting through a VPN.
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited didn't leak our true IP address, so you can securely browse and access content without risking your personal data being exposed.
WebRTC leak tests
- WebRTC leak test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited passed its WebRTC leak tests.
WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) is an open-source project that helps enable web browsers to exchange real-time communications without the need for a plugin. It supports video, audio, and data communication over various protocols including UDP, TCP, SCTP, and DTLS.
WebRTC is used by many different voice over internet protocol (VoIP) applications and services such as Skype, Google Hangouts, Discord, and WhatsApp.
We also conducted a WebRTC leak test to ensure KeepSolid doesn't leak any unencrypted traffic. Thankfully, we did not experience any WebRTC leaks on the servers we tested.
Kill switch test
- Kill switch test results: KeepSolid VPN Unlimited failed its kill switch test.
Using a kill switch ensures you remain anonymous while browsing online, as it prevents your real IP address from being revealed should the outage occur. It’s important to note that not all VPN services offer this feature, so those valuing their privacy and security should keep this in mind when choosing a service.
We enabled KeepSolid VPN Unlimited's kill switch but our true location appeared as soon as we swapped servers. Considering KeepSolid VPN Unlimited failed the kill switch test on our PC as well,
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited compatibility
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited apps are available on a wide range of devices and operating systems, and even as browser extensions. It’s a great choice for protecting your data regardless of what hardware you use. It can be used to secure traffic on the following:
- Windows 8.1+
- macOS 10.14+
- Linux Debian 11+, Ubuntu 22.04+, Linux Mint 21.2-21.3, Zorin OS 17
- Android 7+

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited customer support
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers customer support in the form of a knowledge base and email.
Knowledge base
KeepSolid offers an extensive FAQ section as its knowledge base. On this page, you can find answers to general questions, work with the application, technical questions, account and payment questions, and troubleshooting.
If you can’t find answers through the FAQs, they can submit a request through the website or send an email to support. Unfortunately, this service isn’t always reliable; when we tested it out, we didn’t get a reply from anyone on our support ticket after a couple of days.
In conclusion, customer service options with KeepSolid VPN Unlimited are limited, so you may not be able to get timely assistance should any issues arise.
Top alternatives
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers a lot of unique features, but we find its data collection practices offputting and our speeds struggled with some servers.

VPN Unlimited isn't the best choice because it blocks torrenting on U.S.-based servers following a lawsuit.[1]
Bottom line: Is KeepSolid VPN Unlimited good?
KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is a decent service. The map interface makes it easy to find available servers and it has an extensive list of streaming-optimized servers.
However, its servers can be slow, which could limit your options when it comes to streaming or other high bandwidth activities. Plus, the company claims to have a strict no-logs policy but admits to collecting users' information.
If you're looking for one of the best VPNs with an expansive server collection and a no-logs policy, we recommend checking out NordVPN or one of our other recommended alternatives.
