If you’re into cryptocurrency and a resident of the United States, you probably know that Binance was banned in the U.S. in 2019 after struggles with regulations.[1]

Luckily, you can use a virtual private network (VPN) to use Binance for crypto trades. By using a VPN, you can mask your location so that you appear to be outside of the United States and can then access Binance.

We compared several VPNs and found NordVPN, Surfshark, and CyberGhost are the best VPNs for Binance thanks to their strict no-log policies to help give you greater anonymity when using the VPN. Let’s take a look at these top three VPNs to find out which one has the features you need for crypto trading.

The U.S. Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) recently filed a lawsuit against Binance.US, the U.S. version of Binance. Due to this, the platform paused U.S. dollar (USD) trading but has since restored this feature after reaching a deal with the SEC.

Who it’s best for

NordVPN gives users the most flexibility of the VPNs we tested. It offers three different plans: Complete, Plus, and Standard. Each of these plans comes with unfettered access to the VPN.

However, the Plus and Complete plans give you access to additional features, such as a password manager, data breach scanner, cloud storage, and file encryption. The Standard plan is a perfect solution if you’re looking for a VPN to handle your crypto portfolio. But if you’d like to further secure your crypto trades, Plus and Complete are worth a look.

NordVPN has thousands of servers in Asia, including Japan and South Korea.

What we liked

NordVPN is easy to use, and you can navigate to servers around the world from its dashboard. Users can also set presets so if you find a VPN server that works best for you, you can always have it easily accessible.

From the dashboard, you can turn on threat protection to block malware and malicious ads while browsing the web.

We also tested our internet speeds when connected to NordVPN and without, and we didn’t experience any issues once we were connected.

What we didn’t like

If you’re looking for a short-term solution, NordVPN’s pricing for a month-to-month membership can get pricey. If you can commit to a 2-year contract, you’ll end up saving more money over the long run.

Also, compared to other VPNs, the NordVPN dashboard doesn’t display your connection status as prominently. We would’ve appreciated the ability to quickly see whether we were connected to the VPN or not.

Surfshark: Best for unlimited devices

Who it’s best for

Surfshark is the only VPN on our list that allows you to connect to its servers on unlimited devices. This means that if you have many devices that need VPN access at the same time, Surfshark is a great solution.

Surfshark also has CleanWeb, a malware and ad blocker that adds further protection while you’re online.

Surfshark has 3,000+ servers in a variety of locations, including Europe.

What we liked

Surfshark is a great solution for accessing Binance and crypto trading in general. The dashboard is straightforward and you can easily move to different servers. Surfshark also makes it simple to use multiple servers in a multi-hop connection. This adds an extra layer of security to your VPN connection.

You can also upgrade to a Surfshark One bundle to get more features in addition to the VPN, including:

  • Surfshark Alert: Data breach monitoring
  • Surfshark Search: A private search engine
  • Surfshark Antivirus: Scans your device for malicious content

What we didn’t like

Surfshark is headquartered in the Netherlands, which is part of the Nine Eyes Alliance. This can cause some privacy concerns since there’s the possibility that the United States could request information from the Netherlands about VPN usage in matters of national security.

However, Surfshark does have a verified no-logs policy, after completing an audit with Deloitte in January 2023.

Surfshark specs

Price range $2.49–$12.95/mo
Accepts crypto payments Yes — bitcoin, ethereum, tronix, litecoin, dogecoin, monero, beam, tether, XRP
Number of servers 3,200+
Number of connected devices Unlimited

CyberGhost: Best for the lowest cost

Who it’s best for

CyberGhost is the least expensive on our list, but just like the others, you get the best deal if you commit to a 2-year contract. But the 6-month plan is also a relatively good deal and may make more sense based on your needs.

The CyberGhost dashboard is simple to use, and you can set your favorite servers easily so you can come back to the ones that work best for your Binance access, watching Hulu, or simply browsing anonymously.

CyberGhost has over 9,000 servers in multiple locations across the world, including Central and South America.

What we liked

CyberGhost offers specialty servers optimized for streaming, torrenting, and gaming. For Binance, you can find server locations worldwide that work for your crypto needs.

We also like that you can try out CyberGhost with a free trial. On a computer, you get 24 hours to try it out. With mobile devices, you get up to 7 days free.

CyberGhost also gives you a 45-day money-back guarantee, which gives you more time to try it out than most other VPNs that offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. So if you do pay, you still have some reassurance that you can get your money back if things don’t work out.

What we didn’t like

We had some issues switching between server locations, which caused some concern. As long as we didn’t switch once we were connected, we didn’t encounter the problem, though. So if you run into this issue as well, try disconnecting from CyberGhost before you swap to a different server location.

CyberGhost VPN specs

Price range $2.19–$12.99/mo
Accepts crypto payments Yes — bitcoin

VPNs that didn’t make the cut

There are many different VPN options available today, and since we picked only the top three for our list, we left quite a few out. Here are a couple of VPNs for Binance that didn’t quite make the cut:

ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN is one of the more expensive choices. Its cheapest price is $6.67 per month, so you’ll pay quite a bit more for this VPN. We didn’t feel that the cost was justified when using it for Binance, so that’s why ExpressVPN didn’t make our top three.

However, ExpressVPN does offer strong security across the board and is headquartered in the British Virgin Islands. This plus an audited no-logs policy makes it a great choice for online privacy.

We also like that ExpressVPN gives you lots of choices: it accepts many forms of cryptocurrency for payment, including bitcoin, ethereum, and XRP, as well as a few different stablecoins. Additionally, ExpressVPN has a slew of apps, so you should be able to use it on all of your devices and not just your cell phone and laptop.

Private Internet Access (PIA)

Private Internet Access (PIA) didn’t make our top three for a couple of reasons. The main one is that PIA is headquartered in the United States. This can cause privacy concerns since the United States is a part of the Five Eyes Alliance.

We’ve also had difficulties with internet speeds using PIA. You may be able to avoid any speed issues by finding a server with the highest speeds, but we found the slowdown in speeds concerning enough.

On the plus side, PIA won’t put a dent in your pocketbook with its cheap prices. It also completed an audit by Deloitte in 2022, confirming its no-logs policy.

Best VPNs to access Binance FAQs

+

Which VPN server is best for Binance?

Any VPN server outside of the United States is good for Binance. But Switzerland tends to be the best country to connect to for crypto trading, thanks to the country’s privacy laws.

+

Will Binance block a VPN?

No, Binance won’t block a VPN. The Binance cryptocurrency exchange only blocks access if you are trying to use it from an IP address located in the United States.

+

What VPN should I use for crypto?

Many different VPNs will work well for crypto. You should use a VPN that offers the features you find most essential, a large server network, and stringent security encryption and protocols.

+

Should you use a free VPN for Binance?

We don't recommend using a free VPN to access Binance, especially since you'll likely make financial transactions on the site. Free VPNs tend to have poor security and may even infect your device with malware.

Additionally, many free VPNs track your online activities and sell your data despite claiming not to. If your budget can't fit a VPN subscription, there are more reputable free VPNs you can try use to unblock the crypto trading platform.

Bottom line: The best Binance VPNs

The most important part of using a VPN for Binance is ensuring that your IP address is masked and located in a country outside of the United States so you can access Binance.com.

While Binance.com is not available in the United States, VPNS are legal in most places for accessing information that is unavailable in your country.

Each of the VPNs we looked at gives you additional features to help protect you while using the internet. NordVPN, Surfshark, and CyberGhost are all great and reliable VPN choices for Binance.com and give you extra security features.

What to look for when choosing a Binance VPN?

When choosing a secure VPN to unblock Binance, you want to be sure it not only gets you access to your Binance account but secures your connection as well. Certain features can help protect you against hackers as well as get around geo-blocking restrictions.

We recommend looking for a VPN provider that offers the following security features:

  • A no-logs policy that's been recently audited by a third party
  • A kill switch that shuts off your internet connection if you disconnect from the VPN
  • AES 256-bit encryption
  • WebRTC and DNS leak protection
  • OpenVPN, IKEv2, or WireGuard for a VPN protocol
  • Fast speeds for a less frustrating experience
  • Extra features like malware protection, double VPN, or an ad blocker

What countries is Binance available in?

As of the time of writing, the Binance platform is available in 100+ countries, and connecting to a VPN server in one of these countries may help you unblock Binance in the U.S.
