Eyezy Review 2026: Is It Worth the High Cost?

Eyezy is a surveillance app that excels at monitoring conversations. But it falls short as a parental control app because it lacks screen time controls, content filtering, and alerts.
We receive compensation from the products and services mentioned in this story, but the opinions are the author's own. Compensation may impact where offers appear. We have not included all available products or offers. Learn more about how we make money and our editorial policies.

Eyezy is more focused on overbearing surveillance rather than safe monitoring, so we hesitate to recommend it. It can monitor text messages, phone calls, social media, and even set up a remote camera on your child's device.

However, there aren't many features that teach healthy online behaviors. During testing, we found that it lacks screen time management and alerts for categories like bullying, depression, and profanity.

While it offers many tools for monitoring online conversations, we found that Eyezy falls short as a top parental control app.

Pros
  • Good for monitoring conversations
  • Allows you to monitor photos and videos
  • Block websites, Wi-Fi connections, and apps
Cons
  • No free version, trial, or money-back guarantee
  • Potentially confusing installation process

Parental Controls
Eyezy
  • Monitors private conversations across a dozen apps, like texts, DMs, and social media, so you can see exactly who your child is talking to
  • Lets you read deleted messages using the screen recorder, which most parental control apps can't do
  • No screen time limits, content filtering, or cyberbullying alerts, which are the features most parents actually need
  • Only covers one device per subscription

How we test and rate parental control apps

Our team has conducted hands-on testing on 10+ parental control apps over several years using a consistent process. We install each app on multiple devices and create both parent and child accounts, evaluating the experience from both perspectives. We also deliberately attempt to bypass restrictions to ensure the apps actually work.

Then, we evaluate each product across eight areas:

  • Editor's score (33%): We evaluate the app's ease of use from installation through daily use, and assess whether it's designed as a transparent family safety tool or veers into hidden spy app territory.
  • Screen time management (15%): We assess how comprehensively each app handles screen time, specifically testing time limits, app-level controls, and the option of enabling routines.
  • Content monitoring (15%): We actively send content designed to trigger alerts across messaging, email, and gaming features to find out which apps detect and flag concerning material in real time.
  • Blocking content, websites, and apps (15%): We test the ability to block specific types of content, websites, and apps, to verify each parental control app's filters hold up in practice.
  • Location tracking (7%): We test how reliable the real-time accuracy and geo-fencing alerts are, measuring how quickly each app updates location data and notifies parents of boundary violations.
  • Value (5%): We compare each app's starting price and feature set against competitors.
  • Compatibility (5%): We evaluate whether the app offers full feature support across smartphones, Windows, and macOS.
  • Customer service (5%): We review every company's support options and the quality of help provided.

We retest all parental control apps at least once a year. To learn more about how we test, read our full parental control testing methodology here.

Star rating summary

Eyezy received a 3.0 star rating because it's more of a surveillance tool than a parental controls app. It doesn't do a great job of alerting parents if a child encounters inappropriate content, but it can record the child's screen.

However, Eyezy earned a good features score because it has several tools geared toward conversation monitoring, like tracking messages sent via SMS and popular social media apps.

Our experience

We couldn't fully test Eyezy with our iPhone. When linking our device, we selected iPhone and could choose to connect via iCloud sync or a local sync (using a USB cable or Wi-Fi).

We selected iCloud sync and waited for our dashboard to populate, which Eyezy mentions may take up to one hour. Almost 24 hours later, and the only information that loaded in our dashboard was the contacts on our phone. The events, photos, and videos tabs all stated "looks like there's nothing here just yet."

Eyezy dashboard open on events tab (nothing here yet)

When we tried local sync, we couldn't get the Eyezy app to download onto our computer. Our guess is that Windows Defender was blocking the software from downloading.

Although we can't speak to the Eyezy iPhone experience, you can learn about our experience testing Eyezy on our Android phone.

September 2024 experience

Our experience with Eyezy was rocky from start to finish. The installation process was overly complicated, and the app didn't include some advertised features. It didn't seem beneficial to parents looking for assistance in setting online boundaries for their children.

Downloading the app should be simple, but it took a bit of time. Eyezy initially asked to turn off Google Play Protect, which is a huge red flag. Play Protect ensures that all apps you download on your Android are safe and secure. It made me question if Eyezy was a safe app to use.

We skipped the step to turn off Google Play Protect and downloaded the app anyway. We were immediately prompted to add the child's device, which meant downloading the app on that device too.

To connect the parent-child accounts, the parent receives a code to enter on the child's device. Eyezy didn't ask for any personal information like a birthday or name.

Eyezy Add Device

One of the things we noticed right away was that it was missing a lot of features that were advertised, like the ability to see internet searches. This may have happened because we didn't download the app directly from the website as requested. Instead, we downloaded the app safely via Google Play.

Also, we couldn't see the device on the website. It never connected to the dashboard, which meant we were limited to the app. The missing features may be available on the website, but the device never appeared on our dashboard.

Eyezy Panic Mode

The features we did have seemed to work fine. Location tracking took some time to update, but it was an overall positive experience. Since Eyezy seems focused on conversation monitoring, it was a bit of a disappointment not to see screenshots of messages.

Verdict: 1/5. Eyezy is an expensive product that doesn't have the features to justify the high cost. It also gave us a lot of issues during setup and use.

Top Eyezy alternatives

Eyezy may be a good option if you are focused on reviewing every message that your child sends or receives. However, other parental control apps offer better ways to protect kids with more features, and at a more competitive price.

Our team has done extensive research and testing to find the best parental control apps on the market. One of them may be a better fit for your needs and help your child establish online boundaries.

Overall, Eyezy is expensive compared to other parental control apps, and the price difference isn't offset by additional features.

For example, Eyezy works only on one device. You'll need the Family Kit add-on to cover three devices. Meanwhile, other major parental control apps (like Bark and Norton Family) offer unlimited device coverage with no upcharge.

The only differences between the Premium and Ultra plans are mic activation and remote camera features. Ultra lets you remotely turn on the child's device's microphone and camera, so you can hear or see what's happening. It may be helpful in an emergency when your child isn't answering their phone.

Verdict: 1/5. Eyezy has high starting prices, and subscriptions only cover one device at a time.

Eyezy features

Let's take a deep dive into Eyezy's content monitoring, screen time management, and location tracking features.

Verdict: 4/5. Eyezy primarily shines in conversation monitoring, but it lacks content and screen time management.

Content monitoring

Eyezy has limited content monitoring. It doesn't send alerts if your child receives or searches for harmful or inappropriate content. Parents will need to set up specific keyword alerts for Eyezy to search for in messages.

Parents can block websites, apps, and Wi-Fi networks. But there is no option to filter content based on sensitivity.

Social media and phone apps

Strangers can easily send messages to your child on social media. Eyezy can monitor DMs on several social networks, including Messenger and Instagram. It can also take screenshots of messages and let you view the media sent in the conversation.

It's one way to ensure that your child stays safe on social media, but it does seem intrusive to view every message.

Text messages

Like social media apps, Eyezy lets you view every SMS your child sends and receives. It's also capable of recording the screen and giving you full access to conversations.

Email

From the Eyezy dashboard, you can connect a Gmail account for monitoring. During our previous round of testing, we had trouble finding this feature, so we're not sure whether there are any email monitoring capabilities beyond Gmail.

Web browsers

Another feature missing from the app is a web search history monitor. It wasn’t available on our menu when we tried it.

Content filtering

Eyezy claims to let parents block websites and apps. But this feature was nowhere to be found in the app.

Screen time management

Eyezy does display how much time your child spends on specific apps. However, there is no option to set app time limits or manage the child's screen time.

Location tracking and geo-fencing

The location tracking on Eyezy seems accurate, but sometimes it would take a while to update.

We also had the option to set a geo-fence. We could create designated safe or restricted zones. Then, we could change the settings to notify us if a device left or arrived within those zones.

Eyezy Geo Fencing

Activity reports

There are no automatic activity reports in Eyezy. If we wanted to see our child's messages, we had to do so manually. It took extra effort to check and scroll through multiple messages.

Eyezy's lack of alerts or a summary report is a notable disadvantage.

Spy app features

Eyezy is more of a surveillance app than a parental control app. It offers spyware-like features, such as keylogging and the ability to monitor phone activity undetected, through "an invisible shield." Here are some of the most invasive monitoring features:

  • Keystroke Capture: Records keystrokes so you can monitor texts and conversations
  • Live Screen Streaming: Record the device's screen in real-time
  • Social Spotlight: View private social messages, even deleted chats
  • Files Finder: See all saved pictures, videos, and files on the device
  • Phone Analyzer: Track all calls
  • Plans Breaker: View the device's calendar
  • AI Chat Monitoring: View conversations with AI chatbots

Eyezy compatibility

Windows
macOS
Android
iOS
Browser extensions

Eyezy can't monitor computers. Its parental controls are only compatible with iOS and Android devices. Monitoring a computer is just as important as monitoring a phone, making its failure to do so a potential issue for parents.

Verdict: 4/5. Eyezy only has smartphone apps; there are no desktop apps or browser extensions.

Eyezy customer support

Online guides or forums

Eyezy did not have efficient customer service. It says it has 24/7 customer support, but it was difficult to find answers or helpful information. We left a message via the chat feature but didn’t receive a response.

There's also a help desk, but it has limited online guides and doesn't answer questions about specific features. Overall, the customer support wasn't helpful or responsive.

Eyezy user reviews

  • Apple App Store rating: 4.7
  • Google Play Store rating: 3.9
  • Trustpilot rating: 3.8

Eyezy has good ratings on both mobile app stores. However, most reviews for the iOS app are at least several months old. The most recent review calls out all the paywalled features, even with a subscription. The Google Play Store reviewers mention having trouble canceling subscriptions and getting the app to work.

Eyezy has mostly good ratings on Trustpilot, with 64% of reviewers giving it five stars. Positive reviews highlight helpful customer service, while negative reviews call out issues with the user experience.

Verdict: 4/5. Eyezy has email support, but that's the only way to speak to a customer service agent.

Bottom line: Is Eyezy good?

Overall, Eyezy is a parental control app that left us wanting more. From the sketchy installation process to the lack of advertised features, we weren’t impressed.

There are far better parental control apps that are more affordable and functional. Other apps also offer key features such as screen time management and alerts for cyberbullying and online predators. If you wish to monitor your children's web activity while maintaining a safe, trusting environment, we recommend apps like Bark and Norton Family.

FAQs

How legit is Eyezy?

Eyezy is a legitimate surveillance app, but our testing shows that the app didn't have all the advertised features. We also didn’t like that it asked to turn off Google Play Protect before downloading the app. Play Protect helps ensure apps are safe and free of viruses.

Can Eyezy be detected?

Eyezy can be detected. While it's possible to remove the app icon from the home screen, Eyezy will still appear on the list of installed apps.

Can my child delete the Eyezy app?

Yes, your child can delete the Eyezy app. They can uninstall the app like any other app on their phone.

Can Eyezy show deleted texts?

Eyezy claims to show deleted texts. It uses a screen recorder feature to capture images of chats, so it's possible to see texts before they are deleted.
