Hostinger AI Builder Review 2026: I Tested Both Build Modes

The Hostinger AI Builder is a highly capable modern website builder that lets you choose between two different building methods (agentic and manual) to create and launch a website. Both approaches start the same way: you either pick a template as a starting point, or describe your site using everyday language and the tool builds it for you. After that, the user experience diverges based on your chosen method.

Deciding between the paths comes down to personal preference, the type of website you need, and budget considerations. All else being equal, the Agentic approach will get you across the finish line faster and is a better fit for app-like websites where customers create user accounts to log in. The Manual method’s main advantage is that it doesn’t rely on AI credits to build, which can potentially save you money.

Both versions include hosting, a free domain in the first year, built-in analytics, numerous integrations, and no ceiling on storage space, monthly visitors, or bandwidth (though subject to Hostinger’s fair usage policy).^[1] Those are some of the ups, but the builder has downs, too. For example, the AI Image Generator isn’t up to par with mainstream alternatives. Still, the positives far outweigh the negatives.

We last tested Hostinger AI web builder on September 9, 2026.

My experience

Hostinger AI Builder starts by asking you to choose between two build paths: manual and agentic. The manual route, as the name implies, requires more work on your part. In contrast, the agentic path offers a modern vibe coding experience where you describe what you want and the tool builds it.

Up until mid-August 2026, Hostinger offered these two build paths as separate services.^[2] The manual path was called the Hostinger Website Builder, and the agentic path was known as Hostinger Horizons.

The consolidation into a single tool was mostly cosmetic, but Hostinger did make some changes to both builders. Some changes were positive. Others were negative. I’ll mention a few later in this review.

To test the new consolidated builder, I created the same product comparison website twice — once on each build path. I focused on AI builders, but the concept applies to any product. Let’s take a look at what each build path looked like, starting with the manual option.

Manual build path

After selecting the manual path, I was given two choices to create my site’s foundation:

1. Prompt the builder to generate one.
2. Choose from an extensive menu of templates.

I chose prompting and gave the builder an overview of what my site was about, along with the color scheme and font choices I wanted to use.

After a few minutes of waiting, the builder returned version 1.0 of my site

It looked aesthetic. The color scheme and font choices I asked for were there, and overall, the Hostinger builder generated something very close to what I had asked for.

That said, I wasn’t fully satisfied, but this was both expected and intentional. I purposely strayed from my usual approach of giving the builder a comprehensive PRD (Product Requirements Document) as a first prompt. I wanted it to return an incomplete build to see if it would let me request a do-over or if I’d have to manually add the parts I left out (e.g., an About page).

I was pleased to learn that do-overs are allowed, and even better, there doesn’t appear to be a hard limit on how many you can ask for. I ended up requesting two, and the option was still available if I had wanted to do it a third time. However, I was pleased with version 3.0 of my site, so I moved on to refining.

Side note: If you’re just getting started with vibe coding, I recommend drafting a complete PRD and using it as your first prompt. I omitted it purely for experimentation’s sake.

Refining my website with the manual builder

With my website foundation set, I was ready to dive straight into editing. My to-do list included:

• Editing the AI-generated copy throughout the site
• Replacing images
• Generating accurate SEO metadata
• Creating a blog feed page and some initial blog posts

Starting from the top, the AI-generated text was on topic, but it was generic. Editing it was simple, though: I clicked each block of text that needed rewording, and the Hostinger builder let me choose between the built-in AI Writer tool and making manual edits. I opted to do the latter.

And though I didn’t use it, I think the AI Writer’s grammar checker and other options for generating or rewording text could help creators who don’t come from a writing background or who are building a website in a language they aren’t fluent in.

It did have one minor UX issue: the submenu on-hover effect made the text color and the background color of the selected item almost the same (see above). Not a major problem, but hopefully someone at Hostinger fixes it soon.

Regarding images, replacing the AI-generated ones was as straightforward as editing the copy. I clicked on the image, and a pop-up editor window opened up with an option to upload a new image.

There were also several editing options and an AI Image Generator if I wanted to replace the existing image with another AI-generated one. I didn’t use any of the image effects, but I did try the AI Image Generator.

Unfortunately, based on the results I got, I think it’s better to stick with either ChatGPT or Google’s Nano Banana 2 for generating images (more on this later).

On the SEO front, the Hostinger AI Builder was both comprehensive and beginner-friendly. The navigation menu has an SEO button that opens up a sidebar, which I used to optimize my site’s SEO page by page. It also included additional SEO tips.

I went through this and optimized my pages until the builder showed green checkmarks all the way down. On certain pages, I sped up the process by using the builder’s AI feature to generate an initial first draft of the SEO title and meta description.

Adding a blog feed also didn’t take much effort. Activating it took only three clicks.

After that, I used the AI Blog Generator to create a blog post.

This was mainly to test the feature. If I were actually building this website with the intention of launching it for real, I would write my own blog posts. However, if you don’t have the time and don’t mind using generic content as a starting point on your blog, then the AI Blog Generator can do the job.

At that point, I wrapped things up and moved on to the agentic build path to recreate the same website.

Agentic build path

To access the agentic build path, I exited the Hostinger AI Builder and returned to my Hostinger account. Then I re-entered the builder, chose the agentic path, and was brought to the same first step as the manual path.

As before, I skipped the templates and gave the builder a prompt similar to the one I used in manual build mode. The difference was that I changed the color scheme and filled in the details that I had previously omitted. That’s because there was no need to check if do-overs were available. The whole point of using agentic mode is that if you need to change something, you ask. Do-overs are irrelevant.

After about nine minutes, the builder generated the first version of my product comparison website. It cost me 4.7 AI credits.

Overall, I was more impressed with this version than the manual mode version. I think it’s because this version was primarily built with React, and I like how React-built sites feel when you’re scrolling, clicking on elements, etc. My personal preferences aside, the initial build was done, which meant it was time to refine it.

Refining my website with the agentic builder

Unsurprisingly, the to-do list looked the same as it did on the manual build path: replace the copy and images, create a blog feed, and generate a blog post with AI. The solutions were just as simple, too. Perhaps even simpler because agentic mode doesn’t require searching through an extensive menu to find anything.

To change any element, I just clicked the Select & edit toggle in the top left and did exactly what the toggle said — select and edit. After making my changes, I clicked the Apply button to implement them.

The process was the same for both text and images.

The one thing I disliked, compared to when the tool was still called Hostinger Horizons, is that all these manual edits cost AI credits. For example, replacing the GoDaddy Airo placeholder image with a screenshot from its landing page cost me 0.17 credits (see below).

I realize 0.17 credits isn’t much, but for bigger sites, it can add up. Not to mention that it’s also about the principle. You don’t need AI to make manual edits, and the old Horizons didn’t charge you credits for them.

Moving on, I wanted to create a blog feed page. On the manual build path, I did it in three clicks. Here I had to type a prompt. That took a little longer, but within a minute of submitting it, I got back a custom blog feed that matched the specifications I included in my prompt.

If I had tried to create that same custom layout on the manual build path, I would’ve had to do it by hand.

In other words, even though the three-click activation in manual mode might be faster than typing a prompt in agentic mode, if you want anything other than the default design, then agentic mode will deliver it much faster.

To top it off, the builder generated 20 additional blog post topic ideas with an infinite scroll loading mechanism based on my prompt. Compare that to the blog feed in manual mode, which contained nothing but a series of empty slots.

For the last step, I opened a placeholder blog post and prompted the Hostinger AI Builder to write a 1,200-word post on the topic. After about a minute of thinking, it returned the completed text for 0.53 AI credits.

It wasn’t Ernest Hemingway, but for the topic, it was good enough.

Which build path should you choose?

If you’ve read this far, then you have some understanding of what both build paths entail. That said, I didn’t show you every possible feature, and I only built one specific, relatively simple type of website.

Since both build paths handled the job adequately, you might be wondering which one is “better.” The honest answer is that better is mostly going to be a matter of personal preference, with one hard exception and a few soft ones. The hard exception is sites that require user logins or other features that need a backend database.

For these types of websites (e.g., a membership site), you need agentic mode because it comes with its own backend database, which isn’t available in manual mode.

The soft exceptions include beginners building their first site and small business owners pressed for time, and both are better off using agentic mode. Even though manual mode is easy to navigate, it still takes time to orient yourself, whereas in agentic mode, you state what you want and the builder gives it to you.

On the other hand, if you enjoy tinkering with layouts and learning new tools, then manual mode is waiting for you with open arms. The choice is yours.

Hostinger prices and subscriptions

The Hostinger AI Builder is priced competitively, starting at $2.99-$3.79/mo. There are two main tiers: Premium and Unlimited.

The Premium tier lets you create up to three websites and includes the AI Builder. The Unlimited tier bumps this to unlimited websites with more AI credits and additional tools.

Hostinger's plans can feel confusing because its marketing pages are designed for specific use cases, but the plans themselves are largely the same. For example, its web hosting, managed WordPress, and AI Builder pages all feature the Premium and Unlimited plans.

Technically, those plans are the same. However, there are some nuances. For example, if you create with WordPress or another content management system on Hostinger’s standard web hosting, you’ll be subject to storage space limits tied to your chosen plan.

In contrast, the AI Builder has no official storage cap, regardless of whether you choose the agentic or manual path, or whether you’re on the Premium or Unlimited plan.

For ecommerce projects, the Premium plan limits you to a basic storefront and lets you sell up to five products. It’s a good option for a small blog that wants to lightly monetize.

If you need a standard online store, the Unlimited plan unlocks Hostinger’s entire suite of ecommerce tools, plus a team of AI agents that specialize in various business topics. It also lets you sell up to 300 products and monetize additional services like appointments.

Hostinger AI Builder features

The Hostinger AI Builder has some shared features across both build paths. These include:

In addition, each build path also has its own unique features:

• Export to WordPress (manual)
• AI tool suite (manual)

Pre-built templates

Both the agentic and manual build paths offer 400+ starter templates. They’re organized by topics and subtopics, making it easy to search and choose one that fits your business needs.

The best part is that the templates are flexible. If you find one that has 85% of what you like, you can prompt the Hostinger AI Builder to edit the remaining 15% and turn it into something you’re fully satisfied with.

Ecommerce tools

If you're building an ecommerce site with your own products and inventory, then upgrading to the Unlimited plan is a must. It unlocks Hostinger’s full AI-powered ecommerce toolkit with intuitive store management and lots of integrations that make it easy to set up shipping and payments.

Beyond physical and digital products, the Unlimited tier also unlocks the ability to generate income by selling appointments, services, and print-on-demand products. You can also accept donations and let customers buy gift cards from you.

Integrations

Integrations are treated very differently between the two build paths.

Officially, manual mode lists 12 different integrations. This is misleading, though, because one of them is just a way to add custom code snippets, and another is Hostinger’s own email marketing service. The remaining 10 are legitimate integrations. Half of them are various Google products, while the other half includes Shippo, Printful, WhatsApp, Meta Pixel, and Hotjar.

Agentic mode doesn’t have an integrations area like manual mode does. The closest option is the More menu, which includes options to connect to the same Hostinger email marketing service offered in manual mode, as well as Hostinger’s Ecommerce product. Otherwise, you can connect a third-party tool via API. MCP connectors aren’t currently supported.

SEO tools

You saw a good chunk of Hostinger AI Builder’s SEO tools in the manual mode walkthrough earlier. What you didn’t see is the SEO Agent skills available on both build paths. As long as you’re on the Unlimited plan, you can open the support agent, click Skills, type ‘SEO’ in the search bar, and you’ll see a whole menu of SEO tasks. You can run these as one-offs or choose the SEO Consultant and ask it questions about your site’s SEO strategy.

Marketing tools

Hostinger’s Reach email marketing service is available in both agentic and manual mode, but you need the Unlimited plan to unlock it. Reach can write on-brand emails, build layouts, and suggest weekly campaign ideas based on your business description. You can also set up triggers, such as automated welcome sequences for new subscribers.

Export to WordPress (only available on manual build path)

If you build your website with Hostinger's AI Builder and later decide to switch to WordPress, you can use the built-in export tool to transfer pages, blog posts, images, text, and certain media files. However, the tool does have restrictions. You’ll need to recreate site styling, layouts, forms and collected submissions, SEO settings, and other variables manually.

AI tool suite (only available on manual build path)

The Hostinger Builder has an AI for everything from writing copy to creating images to filling in product details. Most of these are only available on the Unlimited plan and can help you save time when building a new website. There’s one exception, though: the AI Image Generator. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the context awareness you’ll find with ChatGPT or Google’s Nano Banana 2.

To give you an example from my own build, I gave the same prompt to all three tools. Of the three, ChatGPT produced the best overall image. The text was accurate and legible, the quality was high, and the context reflected the prompt:

As you can see, it took the contents of what would normally be viewable on the monitor side of the laptop and placed them on the outside of the top flap. If you really want to use AI-generated images on your site, I suggest relying on ChatGPT or Nano Banana 2 to produce them.

Export code (only available on agentic build path)

Some AI builders lock you into their system. Hostinger isn’t one of them. That means you can create without being permanently tied to Hostinger’s platform if you don’t want to be. Export your code and either continue building or deploy your site elsewhere.

The code is also editable, so if you feel comfortable making manual code edits, you can do so to your heart’s content.

Native database (only available on agentic build path)

When I previously tested what was then Horizons, it relied on an external database integration for websites that required user logins. The integration was choppy and required a lot of manual fixing to work. The now-rebranded agentic approach has its own built-in database, which eliminates that friction and offers a much better user experience.

Hostinger web hosting

My experience with Hostinger's web hosting services has been overwhelmingly positive. Its clean interface, fast performance, and practical AI tools make it an excellent choice for small businesses that can’t afford in-house IT support.

Creating, migrating, and managing sites feels intuitive. However, its lack of PCI compliance may be limiting for ecommerce operations that don't want to use a third-party processor like PayPal or Stripe.

Overall, I recommend Hostinger for most small businesses seeking affordable, beginner-friendly hosting.

Web hosting features

Hostinger differentiates itself with an intuitive interface, modern AI features, and consistently strong speed and uptime. It also offers better value at lower prices and ease of use for beginners.

Security and bandwidth

Hostinger includes comprehensive security as a baseline on all plans. Here’s what you get:

• Web Application Firewall (WAF) against common web attacks
• Malware scanning and protection
• Automatic security updates for supported hosting components
• 2FA and account security controls

Backups are also included and range from weekly to daily to on-demand (depending on plan and build path). Bandwidth is uncapped, but subject to Hostinger’s fair use policy.

The AI chat assistant can answer most of your support requests and clarify any information about Hostinger’s services.

I’ve used it many times in the past, including during this review, and based on my cumulative interactions, I think it’s helpful. It’s certainly better than some other AI chatbots I’ve used. There’s also a toggle that lets you switch between “Agent mode” and “Support mode.” Support mode is for basic questions, while Agent mode is for deeper work.

The one gripe I have with Hostinger’s AI support is that it gatekeeps humans, and you really have to fight with it to connect you to a living, breathing person. Even if we accept the fact that it handles most issues without human intervention, from a pure service standpoint, if a customer asks to speak to a person, they should be connected with minimal friction.

That aside, Hostinger also offers email support, a robust Learning Lab, and a dedicated Tutorials section. I’ve always found the guides to be helpful. Between them and the AI chatbot, you’ll be covered the vast majority of the time. However, if you have a complex issue and the chatbot is giving you a hard time getting you to speak with a human, I recommend firing off an email.

Hostinger AI Builder alternatives

The Hostinger AI Builder is a good fit for many users, but it's not the only option. If you want a different balance of features, price, or building style, these three builders stood out in our hands-on testing.

GoDaddy Airo

Best for: Small business owners who need a custom website or app quickly

GoDaddy Airo turns a detailed prompt into a step-by-step build plan, so you always know what's left to finish. It also checks its own code after most builds and fixes errors, often without using your AI credits. Payments, a database, and customer messaging are built in, so you might not need any third-party tools. The main drawback is the free plan, which lets you build but not publish. For most small businesses that need one site, the Starter plan is likely enough.

Wix

Best for: Beginners who want a traditional website builder with a usable free plan

Wix's AI built us a complete, working site in less than five minutes, and its free plan includes both the AI and editing tools. Unlike Hostinger, Wix runs on PCI-compliant servers, which could matter if you plan to take card payments. Just know that analytics and ecommerce tools start on the paid Core plan, and the AI-written copy needed editing to sound authentic.

Base44

Best for: Building business apps, not just websites

Base44, owned by Wix, is an AI app builder that works for beginners but still gives developers room to edit code. It includes native integrations with Google Workspace, Slack, Salesforce, HubSpot, and Stripe, and it holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications. In our testing, we got a scheduling app with three user roles about 90% to 95% ready to launch. The downsides are that it has no end-to-end testing, and moving your app to another platform could take real development work.

Bottom line: Is the Hostinger AI Builder good?

Yes, the Hostinger AI Builder is versatile enough to be a good option for many different types of users. Anyone who wants to leverage AI to do what they otherwise couldn’t do alone can benefit from using it.

Aside from its low-cost plans, part of the Hostinger Builder’s appeal is that it handles most types of sites well. That includes online stores; however, if you want to dabble in ecommerce, then you’ll want to spring for the tier-two Unlimited plan. It lets you quickly build an attractive storefront with AI, then manage your products and services with Hostinger’s extensive ecommerce tool suite.

Just make sure you check and edit all the text and images it generates. You don’t want to publish AI slop and gain a bad reputation. The tools are there to help you, but they can also harm you if used carelessly.
