How to watch on Streaming
Hulu + Live TV is one of the best ways to watch the Indy 500 on FOX. You can snag a free trial, whether you are a new or a qualifying returning customer. There are plenty of times when services won’t give returning customers a free trial, so we like that Hulu offers one to more than just new subscribers.
Other streaming providers with free trials include DirecTV, Fubo, and YouTube TV. Sling, DISH, and Spectrum offer inconsistent free trials, which you have to catch as part of a special promotion.
It depends on which service provider you choose, but we found that FOX and FOX Sports were usually included in the base subscription levels for all these services. We suggest getting a streaming service that includes more than just sports content to get the biggest bang for your buck. Three of the best are Sling Blue, Hulu + Live TV, and YouTube TV.

How to watch the Indy 500 from anywhere
Once you leave the U.S., channel selection is sparse and doesn’t offer many choices. If you’re not located in the U.S. and still want to watch the Indy 500, you can use a virtual private network (VPN) to change your geo-location and access blocked streaming libraries. With a VPN, you can connect to a U.S. server to get a U.S. IP address, allowing you to access different platforms.
VPNs allow you to unlock content worldwide, which is how someone in Mexico can access the Singapore Grand Prix or get tips on watching ESPN while in Eastern Europe. VPNs open up regional markets to the global community.
Even within your own country, like the U.S., activities like sports betting may be restricted from state to state depending on the local laws. A VPN with access across states helps circumvent those regional restrictions.

FAQs
Why is the Indy 500 blacked out in Indy?
While it doesn’t seem to make sense that people in Indiana would be blacked out from watching race day, the thought behind it was to push more people into attending the actual event. Officials have noted that if the grandstands sell out, then the broadcast will be released locally.
Can I watch the Indy 500 online for free?
The best way to watch the Indy 500 online for free is to wait until race day and sign up for a free trial of one of the aforementioned streaming services: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, DirecTV, and Fubo all offer free trials.
Will the Indy 500 be blacked out on Peacock?
From our research, there’s been no mention of the Indy 500 being available to watch on Peacock. In previous years, the streaming service offered the race, but since FOX has acquired it for 2025, there’s conflicting information regarding its broadcast on NBC’s platform. Your best bet is a streaming service that airs FOX and FOX Sports 1, like Sling Blue, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, DirecTV, and Fubo.
Will the Indy 500 be televised locally?
Officials have said that the Indy 500 will only be broadcast locally if the grandstands sell out. If you don’t want to or can’t go to the races that day, consider using a VPN to change your IP address so that you appear out of region.
Bottom line: How to watch INDYCAR without cable
If you’re one of the 80 million+ U.S. households that have cut the cord, you can still watch the Indy 500 without cable. Streaming services like Sling, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, DirecTV, and more have access to FOX and FOX Sports 1, where the qualifiers and race will be broadcast. If you live close to the races, you can use a VPN to watch, even with the blackout.
If you plan on taking the VPN route, you should only use the best VPNs to access geo-restricted content. Cheaper or free services can leak your IP, which could cause you to be blacked out, or they might not be strong enough to access geo-restricted content.
No matter what route you take, the Indy 500 is one of the most popular unofficial starts to summer. Get in on all the action without missing a single turn on the track.
