Wipr is a one-time purchase, so you never have to repurchase it. Your purchase also includes any updates or upgrades released by the developer. Although there isn’t a free version, the price is so low that it can be easily incorporated into anyone's budget.
1Blocker offers a free version that allows you to use any of its features, but only one at a time. You can also purchase 1Blocker as a monthly, yearly, or lifetime subscription.
We’re big fans of evergreen software, such as 1Blocker’s lifetime subscription, which allows you to purchase it once and enjoy it forever. Considering how many features 1Blocker offers, this is a great deal.
Since the two products offer so many different features, the one-time price you pay for either is a good deal if it meets your requirements.

Because Wipr is more of a set-and-forget product, there aren’t a lot of the same customizations that 1Blocker offers. If you’re looking for ad blocking capabilities that include being able to both block and allow websites, 1Blocker has that option. If you want something that includes intense tracker blocking, 1Blocker also has that capability.
We found the cookie rejection feature on 1Blocker especially helpful. When it’s turned on, you’ll never see another cookie request on a website. It automatically rejects them for you, saving you the hassle of doing it yourself while also keeping your data more secure.
One caveat is the firewall feature on 1Blocker. It’s so strong that sometimes we have to disable it to access pages or emails. While this means it's working, it also means that sometimes it works a little too well.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for an ad blocker that you can install and then forget about, Wipr is more likely the choice for you. It’s powerful enough to block a lot of ads while also being effortless.
Wipr is a simpler software product developed by a single developer rather than a corporation. A lot of ad blockers include features like an ads blocked counter and blacklisting, but because of the developer’s resources, this isn’t an option for Wipr. If you want these features, 1Blocker may be a better choice.

While both products offer ad and tracker blocking, 1Blocker is more powerful. However, this is only applicable to the paid version. The free version allows you to use one feature at a time, making 1Blocker significantly less effective.
For instance, if you want to block ads, you can use the Block Ads toggle, but your device will still be susceptible to trackers, web annoyances, and more.
Since Wipr doesn’t offer a free version, we can’t compare them to one another. We can only compare the paid products.
Both blockers received the same score on the Adblock Tester website as well as the Cover Your Tracks test.
Wipr performed a bit better in the Can You Block It Test, as 1Blocker failed to totally block the interstitial ad this round. Wipr did score perfectly on the Can You Block It site, which means the app does what the developer claims.
Both were able to unblock YouTube video ads during our latest testing.

Both programs are extremely user-friendly. Wipr requires a simple installation that doesn’t need further configuration once it’s done. 1Blocker is a simple installation with a user-friendly interface, allowing you to customize it further.
Considering that many products either lack features or have shoddy functionality when translated over to a macOS or iOS platform, it’s nice to have a clean, easy-to-use program.
As for support, neither program offers many options. 1Blocker offers a chat, but it keeps office hours. Wipr offers email support, but you’ll need to wait for a response as it’s run by its developer, who answers emails. Both offer the ability to search through online guides for answers to more commonly asked questions.
Wipr vs. 1Blocker FAQs
Is Wipr worth it?
Yes, Wipr is worth it if you only use Apple products. Its singular price of $4.99 with the ability to block ads, included upgrades, and ease of use make it a worthwhile purchase.
Is 1Blocker worth it?
Yes, 1Blocker is definitely worth it for Apple users. Starting at $2.99/mo, this ad and tracker blocker allows you to customize your experience while using it. We definitely recommend the paid version, though, as it allows you to use all the features simultaneously.
What is the best ad blocker for iOS?
Some of the best ad blockers for iOS are 1Blocker, Total Adblock, NordVPN Threat Protection, Surfshark CleanWeb, and Wipr. We love 1Blocker and Wipr because they were built for iOS, but the additional ad blockers we mentioned are also great picks.
Wipr vs. 1Blocker: Which is better?
1Blocker is the better ad blocker for Apple because it offers more features, allows for customization, and performs well in our in-house testing. Whichever one you choose, you’ll be getting solid protection.
The best ad blockers offer protection against malicious scripting that can sometimes be concealed within ads. They also provide protection against trackers and other online nuisances that follow you around the web. By hiding from these lesser-known issues, you can help protect yourself from spam, scams, and even identity theft.
