TopWall VPN Review 2025: Is It as Good as Big Name VPNs?

Dig into TopWall VPN's real-world performance, privacy, and usability to determine whether it's as good as big-name VPN providers like NordVPN and Surfshark.

TopWall VPN is a basic VPN that accomplishes the essential action of masking your IP address. However, there aren't many server options, and it slowed down our internet during testing.

Overall, we wouldn’t recommend spending money on TopWall VPN. There are better VPN providers available that offer more for less. But let's take a deeper look at what TopWall VPN does well (and what it doesn't).

Pros
  • Offers weekly subscription plans
  • Unblocks Netflix regional libraries

How we test and rate VPNs

We complete standardized hands-on tests for each VPN we review so we can put their claims to the test. This includes vigorous third-party testing by comparing our internet speed while connected to different servers, checking for DNS leaks, making sure the kill switch actually works, and more. We also make sure we can comfortably access popular streaming sites, like Netflix, and still do our day-to-day work without interruption.

Once we’ve completed the testing, our editorial rating is calculated by taking into account key features you’d expect from a good product. We score each VPN in the following categories and use a weighted average to calculate the final rating out of 5 stars: price, server count, speed, security, and features.

Our experience

TopWall VPN is a simple VPN (virtual private network) with no frills. It was easy to install and set up. You'll find it impossible to get lost since TopWall offers only a limited number of country servers. There are no advanced features, such as a kill switch or split tunneling.

We were pleased that it passed our tests for masking our real IP address and unlocking regional Netflix libraries worldwide. However, it affected our internet speed. We were often waiting and troubleshooting as pages loaded.

Also, TopWall VPN markets itself as a free VPN app for Android and iOS, but that is inaccurate. Once we downloaded the iOS app and allowed permissions, we advanced to the main dashboard.

TopWall VPN app permissions

From there, it looked like we could immediately connect to the best server location.

But when we clicked “Connect,” we were prompted to start a 3-day free trial that would automatically charge on the third day.

TopWall VPN makes you sign up for afree trial that automatically renews at the annual price
TopWall VPN makes you sign up for a free trial that automatically renews at the annual price

The automatic renewal is set for the annual plan. So if you’re forgetful, you could be hit with a $79.99/yr subscription. Overall, we think TopWall VPN’s approach is a bit shady. We recommend only using free VPNs that are independently audited, like Proton VPN, anyway.

Who is TopWall VPN best for?

  • Recommended for short-term VPN users

TopWall VPN has weekly subscription plans. It's ideal if you need a VPN only for a short period, like during trips. TopWall VPN can access regional Netflix libraries, so you never have to miss your show.

TopWall VPN prices and subscriptions

TopWall VPN offers three subscription options, ranging from weekly to annual. The weekly plan is unusual, as other competitors offer only monthly or annual subscriptions. At $4.99/wk, this option is ideal for individuals who need a VPN on a temporary basis, such as when traveling.

Plan Weekly 1-month plan 1-year plan
TopWall VPN cost $4.99/wk $13.99/mo $79.99/yr

TopWall VPN offers a 3-day trial. While it's a quick trial period, it does give you enough time to test out features.

The best long-term value is the 1-year plan, which works out to $6.67/mo. However, the cost of TopWall is high compared to premium VPNs.

For example:

  • NordVPN starts as low as $2.99/mo and offers 8,600+ servers in 120+ countries
  • Surfshark starts as low as $1.99/mo and offers 4,500+ servers in 100 countries
  • ExpressVPN starts as low as $3.49/mo and offers servers in 105 countries
  • Proton VPN starts as low as $2.49/mo and offers 16,800+ servers in 120+ countries

TopWall VPN features

TopWall VPN offers a limited number of country servers. While it claims to have a no-logs policy, there is no independent audit to confirm it. There are also no advanced features, such as a kill switch, split tunneling, or protocol options.

Server count and countries

  • Unlisted in 19 countries

The number of servers isn't shared, but TopWall has servers in 19 countries. These countries include:

  • Argentina
  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • India
  • Israel
  • Japan
  • Singapore
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Turkey
  • UAE
  • UK
  • USA

TopWall VPN doesn't have many countries in its server count. ExpressVPN also doesn't share how many servers it has, but it offers servers in over 100 countries.

This might not matter to you if TopWall VPN has servers in your desired country. However, if you like to country hop, TopWall is limited.

No-logs policy and headquarters

  • TopWall VPN logs policy: No logs
  • TopWall VPN headquarters: Hong Kong

TopWall VPN has a no-logs policy. It seems like it's owned by a marketing agency that is headquartered in Hong Kong.

A no-logs policy means that the VPN doesn't collect or store your data. Most VPNs receive third-party verification of their no-logs policies, so we don’t have to take their word for it. The verification process confirms that the VPN doesn't log data.

TopWall VPN claims to have a no-logs policy, but there is no independent audit to verify it. The lack of assurances around data security could become a problem if police or government officials require TopWall VPN to hand over information about your browsing history.

Split tunneling

TopWall VPN doesn't offer split tunneling. It's a useful feature for choosing which apps go through the VPN encryption and which can bypass it. Since a VPN tends to slow down your internet speed a little, split tunneling can ensure your chosen apps use the fastest connection by bypassing the VPN.

Kill switch

TopWall VPN doesn't have a kill switch. It automatically blocks your internet connection if the VPN drops. The security feature ensures you're always connected to a VPN, preventing accidental leaks when it disconnects.

VPN protocols

TopWall VPN doesn't list what VPN protocols it uses. Protocols are rules about how data is collected, transferred, encrypted, and stored. Some common VPN protocols include OpenVPN and WireGuard. Since TopWall doesn't share its protocol, it's hard to determine the VPN's reliability and performance.

TopWall VPN test results

A good VPN will mask your device's IP address, have minimal impact on your internet speed, and stream video with no lagging. We tested all three of these factors by:

  • Checking for IP address leaks
  • Measuring internet speed
  • Reviewing Netflix capabilities

Here are our results.

Speed tests

  • Speed test results: TopWall VPN dropped our download speed by an average of -88.3%

It's normal to experience a small drop in internet speed while using a VPN. A minimal impact is the ideal situation. We tested TopWall VPN to see how much our internet speed was affected when connecting to servers around the world. We used a Chromebook to conduct our internet speed experiment.

Our results were lackluster. Internet speeds took a huge hit when the TopWall VPN was on, regardless of which server we used. It would take several seconds for a web page to load. While we were able to stream videos like Netflix, it took some page refreshing and patience to get there.

Netflix tests

  • Netflix test results: TopWall VPN unblocked regional Netflix libraries, but it wasn't a smooth ride.

Different regions of the world have different content on their Netflix libraries. So if you're traveling abroad, you might want to use a VPN to watch your favorite TV show if it isn't available locally.

We tested to see if TopWall VPN could connect to the Netflix library of varying countries. While we were able to access all the countries we tested, there were a few bumps. Netflix would show a black screen, or the internet would stop working. Refreshing the page helped at first. But other times, we would need to disconnect and reconnect the VPN to resolve the errors.

Other VPN providers like Proton VPN offer dedicated streaming-friendly servers. TopWall VPN doesn't have this feature. So your only option is to disconnect and reconnect the VPN until streaming services work.

DNS leak tests

  • DNS leak test results: TopWall VPN passed the DNS leak tests.

A VPN should keep your traffic hidden in an encrypted tunnel. A DNS leak test confirms whether this is true. The DNS (Domain Name Server) connects browsers to websites. A leak is when your browser bypasses the VPN. The action can reveal your device's IP address and browsing activity — all while you think you are safely undercover with the VPN.

We ran the DNS leak test from BrowserLeaks. After connecting to TopWall VPN, our personal information disappeared and was replaced by the server's IP address. No leaks were detected.

WebRTC leak tests

  • WebRTC leak test results: TopWall VPN passed the WebRTC leak tests.

WebRTC is a built-in browser feature that enables real-time communication. It's vital for tasks like watching live videos or participating in a Zoom meeting. However, WebRTC might bypass a VPN and reveal your device's IP address.

We tested for WebRTC leaks before and after using TopWall VPN. Our real IP address was revealed until we connected to TopWall VPN. The VPN successfully hid our real IP address and showed the server's IP address instead.

Kill switch test

  • Kill switch test results: TopWall VPN doesn't have a kill switch.

Many VPNs include a kill switch, but TopWall VPN doesn't. A kill switch ensures that you browse the internet only when there's a secure VPN connection. If your VPN stops working, the kill switch will automatically block internet access. While it's an advanced feature, it's disappointing that TopWall VPN doesn't have this security tool.

TopWall VPN compatibility

TopWall VPN claims to work on a variety of devices and browsers, including:

  • macOS
  • iOS
  • Windows
  • Android
  • Linux
  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Edge

However, we could only find TopWall VPN on Google Play and the App Store. When we searched for it, the extension did not appear in the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons.

TopWall VPN customer support

TopWall VPN claims to offer 24/7 customer support via email and Telegram. There are no other options available, such as live chat, a help center, online guides, or bug reports.

We tested its customer support by sending an email. It was the most convenient option, as we weren't willing to download the Telegram app just to talk to a customer representative.

We asked where we could find the company's privacy policy. More than 3 days later, and we still haven't received a reply. Customer support might be nonexistent.

Top alternatives

TopWall VPN missed the mark, and we can’t recommend downloading the app. At minimum, a premium VPN should offer advanced security features, maintain reliable speeds, boast a decent server network, and have an independently-verified no-logs policy. Take a look at these reliable VPNs we’ve tested.

FAQs

Which free VPN is safest?

Proton VPN is the safest free VPN. We did extensive research and testing to find the best free VPNs. Other honorable mentions include Privado VPN, Tunnelbear, and Windscribe.

What is the best VPN to use internationally?

The best VPN for international use will offer access to multiple servers across various locations without affecting your internet connection. Some top contenders include NordVPN and Surfshark.

Is using a VPN actually worth it?

Using a VPN is worth it, especially if you use public Wi-Fi or prioritize privacy. Public Wi-Fi networks are often unprotected, and cybercriminals can overtake them to view your browsing activity. VPNs provide an encrypted tunnel for your web traffic, so that prying eyes won't see your activity.

Bottom line: Is TopWall VPN good?

TopWall VPN has an easy-to-use app. It does what we’d expect from a VPN provider: hides our real IP address from outsiders. TopWall VPN also unblocks Netflix regional libraries. Short-term VPN users (people who are traveling for a week or less) might find the weekly subscription appealing if TopWall VPN has a server in the country you’re going to.

However, TopWall VPN has some downsides. It made a huge negative impact on our internet speeds during testing. Sometimes pages wouldn't load. Other issues include unclear ownership, an unverified no-logs policy, and a ghost customer support team. Based on these factors, we recommend looking at more secure VPN providers.
