Signing up for Aura was simple. I opened an account and shared my personal information, including my first and last name, date of birth, email address, phone number, home address, and Social Security number (SSN).
That might feel like a lot to share, especially the SSN, but it's normal for data removal services. Aura needs those details to find your information on broker sites in the first place and confirm it's really you when it requests removals.
I found the dashboard to be super intuitive. The main tab shows critical alerts and recent activity right away, so you're not hunting for what matters. I could also filter it to view just data broker alerts.

On the right, there's a protection summary with quick snapshots of your credit score, transaction monitoring, data removal progress, and your document vault. Everything was easy to find, and the layout didn't feel cluttered despite covering so much ground.
Once I selected the data removal tab, the dashboard showed a "Requesting removal of your personal data" status, so I wasn't left guessing whether anything was actually in motion.

Digital Account Cleanup takes a different approach: instead of removing data from brokers, it helps you find and manage your own old accounts. Link an inbox, and Aura scans your recent emails to build a list of accounts tied to that address, each flagged with details like how often you get emails from it, any past breaches, and a grade on its privacy policy. This helps reduce your digital footprint across the internet.

One important caveat: Aura can't delete these accounts for you; it surfaces the risk and gives you a direct link to the site, but you have to close the account yourself.
Registry with the National Do-Not-Call List adds your number to the official do-not-call registry to help cut down on telemarketing calls.
Aura doesn't include recurring removal reports like Incogni or DeleteMe, which send them every 4 weeks and quarterly, respectively. When I first signed up for Aura Identity Theft, I received a summary of activity, which included the number of removals. But there wasn't a set cadence of those email reports.
Aura doesn't offer real-time alerts for new data broker listings or removals, specifically. But it does include dark web monitoring, which alerts you if your SSN or other personal info turns up on the dark web. With financial account monitoring, Aura will alert you in real-time if there is unusual activity, via SMS and email.
