Compared to other web hosts, GoDaddy is expensive. Its most affordable plan is $5.99/mo, whereas you can find plans from competitors starting at under $3.00/mo relatively easily. In part, you’re paying for the brand recognition: GoDaddy is one of the oldest web hosts still operating. There’s also a lot of convenience and simplicity bundled into the cost, such as the GoDaddy control panel and AI tools.
When choosing a plan, consider your needs. If you know you’ll be using WordPress, the Managed WordPress plans have a lot going for them. They include WordPress pre-installed on the platform, along with a handful of useful plugins. Additionally, the GoDaddy Airo AI tools enable you to create a pre-made site and launch it quickly.
For most users, Managed WordPress is likely the best option. It comes with WordPress pre-installed, along with some useful WordPress-focused features. This is the plan we tested.
More experienced users or those looking to use a platform other than WordPress can opt for the more flexible Web Hosting plans.

Your website or online store needs to be consistently available and quick to load if you want to engage your visitors. We performed speed tests and stress tests to determine how quickly GoDaddy sites load for the average visitor and how well they handle spikes in traffic.
We also monitored uptime to ensure that GoDaddy kept our site online at all times.
Performance is critical for a good user experience. We tested our GoDaddy site from three different locations around the world using dotcom-tools.com.
First Contentful Paint (FCP) represents the time it takes for a browser to render the first piece of content on a site. Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) measures the time it takes for the largest piece of content to load.

The speed tests went well, and we didn’t notice any hiccups. The performance score of 100 is the highest possible with this tool. During our initial testing, GoDaddy achieved 100 for performance but only 98.5 during repeat testing. Similarly, our FCP doubled during repeat testing, and the LCP also increased.
However, we didn't experience any page loading issues. The only testing hiccup was that the Dallas server timed out, and we attempted to run the test three times.

We monitored uptime on our GoDaddy site using the Uptime Robot tool. We watched the site for about two weeks to get these results.

GoDaddy met the advertised uptime of 99.9% after our test website had been live for over a week. During our initial testing, the downtime occurred shortly after our site went live, so it’s possible that it was simply a matter of the domain still propagating when we started monitoring. However, during our repeat testing, we experienced high maximum server response time, which exceeded the recommended time.

We performed a stress test using Loader.io to determine whether GoDaddy could still reliably and quickly deliver our site when faced with an influx of traffic. We sent 250 simultaneous users to our GoDaddy site, and 250 were able to access it, with an average response rate of 367 ms.
There were no HTTP failures, indicating that GoDaddy can handle an influx of traffic.

GoDaddy offers a ton of features. While not every plan will have all of them, there are at least some options to ensure you get the hosting experience you need. Here are some standouts:
GoDaddy offers a number of website building tools, depending on how you want to create your website and the platform you want to use. Most people using GoDaddy hosting will probably be interested in building a WordPress site, and GoDaddy has several options for the popular platform.
First, the Managed WordPress plans come with WordPress pre-installed. When you sign up for the plan, the GoDaddy Airo AI tool will create an initial website design based on your input. You can then fine-tune the design yourself to get things just how you want them. This is what we used in testing, and we found it did a solid job of creating a site based on our domain name.

If you opt for a generic hosting plan or prefer to design your own site, you can use the built-in WordPress editor, called “Gutenberg,” or you can install one of a number of WordPress plugins that add drag-and-drop website builder functionality, like Elementor or Beaver Builder. Any of these will get the job done, although we find the Gutenberg editor a little clunky.

GoDaddy Managed WordPress plans include an automated migration tool to transfer an existing WordPress site from another host. The company also offers assisted migration on any plan for a fee.

If you're running an online store, GoDaddy doesn't build PCI compliance into its standard web hosting plans. Per GoDaddy's own documentation, you can route payments through a third-party processor like PayPal, Stripe, or Square to keep card data off GoDaddy's servers entirely, or add one of GoDaddy's separate PCI-certified products, such as GoDaddy Payments or Online Store, neither of which comes bundled with the hosting plans covered here.[1]

GoDaddy offers 24/7 customer service. You can get in touch by phone or text, or use the live chat feature, which starts with a chatbot that directs you to the appropriate department. GoDaddy also offers a comprehensive online library of guides and articles that we found very helpful.
We tried chat support, and while we received a quick response, the agent couldn’t answer our question about plan selection. However, we found the answer in a guide on the support site.
GoDaddy has a somewhat mixed reputation. On Reddit, most users feel the service is expensive, if not overpriced, and a number of users complain about aggressive price increases after the initial subscription period ends. Some claim that the service has declined over the years, with poor performance.
On the other hand, reviews on Trustpilot are highly positive, with many users praising the customer service and overall experience. Others appreciate the fact that the hosting is comprehensive, allowing them to get everything they need under one roof. In fact, GoDaddy maintains a 4.4 rating on Trustpilot based on over 142,000 reviews.
Getting started with GoDaddy was fairly straightforward, but selecting a plan proved to be challenging. There’s no single list of every web hosting plan GoDaddy offers, and it’s not always clear which features are available on which plans.
Once we selected the Managed WordPress Basic plan, testing went smoothly. The dashboard is clean and relatively easy to navigate, especially compared to the traditional cPanel used by many hosts. We could find all the settings we needed easily.

Its High Performance and VPS tiers scale much further (up to 32 vCPU cores and 1.5TB storage), and it offers a more direct path to PCI compliance through add-on products like GoDaddy Payments, whereas Hostinger requires a third-party processor like PayPal or Stripe for any card payments at all.
