Sportsnet is the new home of Saturday Night Hockey in Canada for the 2026–27 NHL season. The national Saturday night broadcasts are available on Sportsnet's TV channels and Sportsnet+, starting at CA$34.99/mo for a standalone streaming subscription.
The change follows Sportsnet and CBC ending their longtime NHL broadcast partnership. Saturday Night Hockey debuted October 3, 2026, with a four-game opening slate and a new weekly showcase featuring Canadian NHL teams.
You can watch Saturday Night Hockey on Sportsnet or stream it through Sportsnet+ in Canada. If you already have Sportsnet through your cable or live TV provider, you may not need another subscription.
| Option | Price (CAD) | Saturday Night Hockey |
| Sportsnet TV channels | Varies by TV provider | National Saturday games |
| Sportsnet+ Standard | CA$34.99/mo or CA$269.99/yr | All national Saturday games |
| Sportsnet+ Premium | CA$44.99/mo or CA$344.99/yr | All national Saturday games, plus additional out-of-market NHL coverage |
Both Sportsnet+ Standard and Premium include national Saturday Night Hockey broadcasts. Stream through the Sportsnet app on supported smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs.
If your TV package includes Sportsnet, you can watch Saturday Night Hockey through your provider or stream the Sportsnet channels included in your subscription without paying for a separate Sportsnet+ plan.
To stream, visit Sportsnet's sign-in page, select "TV Provider," and choose your provider. Sign in using the same credentials you use to manage your TV bill. Sportsnet may also ask you to create or link a free Sportsnet account.

Watching on a smart TV? Open the Sportsnet app, select "Sign In With TV Provider," and enter the displayed activation code at watch.sportsnet.ca/tv.
To watch all national SNH games, it costs CA$34.99/mo or CA$269.99/yr with Sportsnet+ Standard. Both Sportsnet+ Standard and Sportsnet+ Premium include national Saturday Night Hockey games, but Premium offers more extensive NHL coverage at CA$44.99/mo or CA$344.99/yr.
Standard includes Sportsnet's national broadcasts and eligible regional games, while Premium adds more than 1,100 additional NHL games, including out-of-market Canadian matchups and U.S.-versus-U.S. games.
If you already have a qualifying cable provider, you can stream SNH games for free via Sportsnet+ without purchasing a separate streaming plan.
Our recommendation: Choose Sportsnet+ Standard if you mainly want national Saturday Night Hockey broadcasts. For example, if you're a Toronto Maple Leafs fan living in Vancouver, Premium may be a better fit because it includes more out-of-market games. However, neither plan guarantees access to every NHL matchup.
National Saturday Night Hockey broadcasts are included with both Sportsnet+ plans, but other NHL games may be subject to regional blackouts. Standard generally limits regional coverage to eligible games in your market, while Premium adds out-of-market access.
However, Premium doesn't eliminate every blackout. Games carried exclusively by another regional broadcaster in your home market may still be unavailable.
Sportsnet says its expanded 2026–27 coverage lifts about 150 regional blackouts. To check a specific game, use the Sportsnet+ NHL Game Finder and enter your location and subscription details. It'll show whether your plan includes the matchup or if another broadcaster carries it.

After the CBC–Sportsnet NHL partnership ended, Sportsnet launched Saturday Night Hockey under its own branding. The new show features Ron MacLean, Kevin Bieksa, Elliotte Friedman, and Colby Armstrong, with a weekly primetime doubleheader featuring at least one Canadian team in each matchup.
Sportsnet says it will broadcast more than 550 NHL games during the 2026–27 season, approximately 35% more than the previous year.
Canada's national NHL viewing schedule now includes:
After nearly 75 years of NHL broadcasts on CBC, "Hockey Night in Canada" has a new look. Rogers and CBC ended their broadcasting partnership after the 2025–26 season, and Rogers moved Saturday NHL games exclusively to Sportsnet under the new "Saturday Night Hockey" name. The change coincides with Rogers' new 12-year, CA$11 billion NHL rights deal.
Not everyone is celebrating. Some longtime fans have criticized the rebranding and the loss of free NHL broadcasts on CBC, where Saturday night hockey has been a Canadian tradition since 1952. The October 3 premiere kept familiar faces like Ron MacLean and Kevin Bieksa, but the new name and network have sparked nostalgia and frustration among viewers.
However, "Hockey Night in Canada" isn't disappearing. CBC is bringing the iconic program back for its 90th season with eight primetime Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) games, beginning December 5 with Montréal Victoire versus PWHL Hamilton. Those games will be available on CBC and CBC Gem.
The Saturday Night Hockey schedule runs from October 3, 2026, through April 10, 2027, with multiple national NHL games on most Saturdays. Below is the full schedule, organized by month. All times are Eastern.

Sportsnet's Saturday Night Hockey broadcasts are intended for Canadian viewers, but the same NHL matchups may be available through U.S. broadcasters and streaming services, depending on the game and your location.
National games may air on ESPN, ABC, TNT, or other U.S. services. Other matchups may be available through regional broadcasters or NHL Power Play on the ESPN App for eligible out-of-market viewers. Check the NHL's U.S. viewing schedule before puck drop, as blackout restrictions may apply.
Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ are intended for Canadian viewers, so you may have trouble accessing your usual NHL streams when traveling internationally.
A virtual private network (VPN) changes your virtual location by routing your internet connection through a server in another country. Connecting to a Canadian VPN server can give you a Canadian IP address, which may help you bypass geo-restrictions and access streaming services you normally use at home.
To try watching Saturday Night Hockey while traveling:
Sportsnet+ is available only while you're physically in Canada, even if you already have a subscription. Sportsnet also says using a VPN to access its service from abroad isn't supported, so connecting to a Canadian server doesn't guarantee you can stream.
We recommend Surfshark for Canadian viewers who want to access their usual streaming services while traveling.
Surfshark has servers in Toronto, Montréal, and Vancouver, so you can try multiple Canadian locations. It also supports unlimited simultaneous connections, which is useful if you want to protect multiple devices with one subscription.
Budget-friendly VPN that lets you connect unlimited devices at once, which most VPNs cap at 10 or fewer
4,500+ servers across 100 countries with proven fast speeds, even on distant connections
Includes a built-in ad and tracker blocker, so you get cleaner browsing without a separate tool
