How to watch Wednesday Night Hockey
You can watch every Wednesday Night Hockey game exclusively on Prime Video in Canada. The 2026–27 schedule includes 27 national regular-season games from September 30, 2026, through April 7, 2027.
You don't need Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, or another Prime Video channel to watch. Wednesday Night Hockey is included with a regular Canadian Amazon Prime membership at no additional cost.
| Option | Price | Wednesday Night Hockey |
| Amazon Prime | $9.99/mo or $99/yr | All 27 games |
| Prime for young adults and students | $4.99/mo or $49/yr | All 27 games |
Prime Video is included with Amazon Prime. Eligible young adults ages 19–24 and college, university, and CEGEP students can get a discounted Prime membership with a six-month free trial, then pay $4.99/mo or $49/yr.
Do I need Sportsnet to watch Wednesday Night Hockey?
No. Wednesday Night Hockey is exclusive to Prime Video in Canada, so a Sportsnet or Sportsnet+ subscription won't give you access to these national broadcasts.
That's one of the biggest changes to NHL viewing this season. Prime Video previously carried Monday Night Hockey, but the national schedule has been reshuffled for 2026–27. Prime now owns Wednesday nights, while Sportsnet carries other national NHL packages throughout the week.
How much does Wednesday Night Hockey cost?
If you're already an Amazon Prime member, Wednesday Night Hockey doesn't cost anything extra. A standard Canadian Prime membership costs $9.99/mo or $99/yr and includes all 27 regular-season games.
You don't need to purchase an NHL add-on or a separate sports package. Your membership also includes Prime Video's regular movie and TV library along with Amazon's other Prime benefits.
Prime's NHL package extends beyond the regular season. Beginning in 2026–27, Prime Video also exclusively carries two First Round Stanley Cup Playoff series and one Second Round series in Canada each year.

What's new with NHL on Prime?
Prime Video carried Monday Night Hockey during the previous two NHL seasons, but its new Wednesday Night Hockey package marks a much bigger long-term commitment.
The new agreement runs through the 2037–38 NHL season. The deal calls for at least 26 national regular-season games each year, with 27 scheduled for the inaugural 2026–27 season.
It's also the first season that NHL on Prime offers every national broadcast in both English and French.
Canadian teams feature prominently throughout the schedule. The Montréal Canadiens appear seven times, the Toronto Maple Leafs six times, while the Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets, and Ottawa Senators each appear four times. The schedule also includes five all-Canadian matchups.

Can I watch Wednesday Night Hockey in the U.S.?
Prime Video's Wednesday Night Hockey package is exclusive to Canada. A U.S. Amazon Prime membership doesn't automatically give you access to the Canadian NHL on Prime broadcasts.
If you're in the U.S., the same NHL matchup may still be available through the network or streaming service that holds U.S. rights to that game. National NHL games in the U.S. are split across ESPN, ABC, ESPN+, Hulu, TNT, and other services, while some games may also be available through regional or team-specific broadcasters.
How to watch Wednesday Night Hockey while traveling
Prime Video's Wednesday Night Hockey rights apply only in Canada, so a Canadian Prime member traveling internationally may find that the NHL stream isn't available in the same way outside the country.
A virtual private network (VPN) changes your virtual location by routing your internet connection through a VPN server. Connecting to a Canadian server can give you a Canadian IP address, which may help you bypass geo-restrictions and access streaming services you normally use at home.
To try streaming Wednesday Night Hockey while traveling:
- Choose a VPN. Pick a service with fast servers in Canada.
- Install the VPN. Download the app on the device you'll use to stream.
- Connect to Canada. Choose a Canadian VPN server.
- Open Prime Video. Sign in to your Canadian Amazon Prime account.
- Find NHL on Prime. Look for the Wednesday Night Hockey stream and start watching.
Streaming services can detect or restrict VPN connections, so using a VPN doesn't guarantee access. Check Prime Video's terms and regional availability before streaming.
Best VPN for streaming Wednesday Night Hockey

Bottom line
Prime Video is the exclusive home of Wednesday Night Hockey in Canada for the 2026–27 season. All 27 national regular-season games are included with a standard Canadian Amazon Prime membership at no additional cost, and every broadcast is available in both English and French.
Prime's NHL coverage now extends beyond Wednesday nights, too, with two First Round and one Second Round Stanley Cup Playoff series available exclusively on Prime Video in Canada each year.
If you're trying to follow the NHL throughout the week, Wednesday Night Hockey is only one part of Canada's new national broadcast lineup. Prime owns Wednesday nights, while other national packages remain on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
