Cloaked Review 2026: Is the Hybrid Privacy App Worth It?

Cloaked data removal app offers 350+ automatic removal requests, automations to scrub your data from 650+ other websites, and a complete privacy suite. Here’s what I found.

It's no secret that companies want your data. They can share or sell your phone number, email address, and even purchase behavior to data brokers, who create an extensive digital profile of you. Those data brokers turn around and sell your profile to marketing lists, so the cycle of spam and scammers never ends.

Cloaked has a two-prong approach to fixing this problem. First, it makes it easy to create temporary email addresses and phone numbers so websites aren't collecting your real data. Second, Cloaked has a decent data removal process to stop brokers from selling your profile. With a unique "automations" feature for mobile, Cloaked helps scrub your data and digital footprint from 1,000+ data brokers, people search sites, and company databases.

In my Cloaked review, I break down my firsthand experience testing the app on desktop and mobile. Here's what I learned.

Pros
  • Monitors over 350+ data broker and people-search sites
  • Easy-to-use aliases to protect your real data
  • Extra digital privacy tools like call spam protection, a password manager, and a VPN
  • Automations extend removal to 650+ other sites
Cons
  • No financial or social media monitoring
  • No custom data removals

How we test and rate data removal services

Our team has conducted hands-on testing on 10+ data removal services using a consistent process. We sign up one to four weeks before our formal testing begins, giving each service time to scan for our personal information and contact data brokers to remove our data.

Then, we evaluate each product across five areas:

  • Core features (50%): We record the maximum number of data broker sites each service scans and whether it offers custom removals for sites outside its standard coverage.
  • Editor's score (25%): We use each service ourselves, evaluating security practices, company reputation, and the ease of use of the interface.
  • Extras (10%): We check whether each service also includes privacy reports, dark web monitoring, identity monitoring, and the option for family plans, awarding one point per included feature.
  • Customer service (10%): We evaluate the support options available, especially if there are multiple ways to get in touch, such as live chat, email, and phone.
  • Value (5%): We compare each service's lowest viable price on the plan that actually delivers automated removals.

We test all data removal services at least once a year. To learn more about how we test, read our full data removal testing methodology here.

Star rating summary

Cloaked earned a 4.7 for its user-friendly data removal apps and robust digital privacy features. It includes the same 350+ broker coverage across monthly and annual plans and offers a lot of privacy extras, including unlimited aliases, scam call protection, and a VPN. It also bundles identity theft insurance and a password manager for online security.

We docked Cloaked in the Value and Features categories because it's pricier than competitors, and it lacks custom removal requests. Customer support was also unresponsive when we needed assistance.

Our experience

We tested Cloaked on Windows desktop, iPhone, and Android, so dashboard images will vary depending on the device. Some features are device-specific and may not be available for all users.

Signing up starts with a free phone number scan. After Cloaked confirms your phone number with a verification code, it looks for your information on data broker sites.

I was floored when the results came back. With just my phone number, Cloaked found out my name, age, current and past addresses, past phone numbers, birthday, and the first three digits of my SSN. It also managed to list my ex-boyfriend's dad as someone I knew.

From there, I created an account with Cloaked for data removal. The process was pretty straightforward, and it couldn't have been any easier.

Cloaked requires information like your first and last name, phone number, address, email address, and birthday. It's optional to include your SSN, past phone numbers, and past addresses. Cloaked uses this information to look for your profile on data broker and people search sites.

After filling out this information, I was prompted to download the app. I wasn't sure if this was really necessary, but it turns out that the app has different tools from the web version. The app has spam call protection and your alias phone number.

The app and web versions are simple and easy to use. Cloaked includes Call Guard scam call protection and lists over 40 carriers, though mine wasn't available during testing. The Email Guard tab was glitchy and didn't load on Android or iPhone. It also gave an error when trying to cancel via the iPhone app.

The initial phone number scan reported 16 compromised records. After a couple of days of using Cloaked, it removed all 16 records from 3 data broker sites. On iPhone, I was able to use Cloaked's "automations" feature to have my information removed from dozens of other websites that harvest data across industries including health, retail, tech, media, and entertainment.

The automation packs were easy to run with a tap, but a lot required manual confirmation of my information or doing the CAPTCHA, which was tedious. I also had to leave the app open while the automations ran, so the process wasn't seamless.

Verdict: 5/5. The Cloaked app is easy to use across devices, and the automations are a cool way to see exactly where your data is being removed from, even though it sometimes requires manual confirmation.

Cloaked prices and plans

Cloaked offers plans for individuals, couples, and families (up to 4 including yourself), with pricing ranging from $9.99-$29.99/mo depending on how many people are covered and the subscription cycle (monthly or annual).

What's nice about Cloaked is that subscriptions are based on the number of users, so features and data broker coverage aren't paywalled to a higher-tiered plan. However, Cloaked is priced higher than comparable digital privacy suites like Aura Data Removal.

Here's how Cloaked compares to other top data removal services:

  • Cloaked: Starts at $9.99/mo and covers 350+ data brokers and 650+ other sites
  • Aura Data Removal: Starts at $7.00/mo and covers 200+ data brokers
  • Incogni: Starts at $7.99/mo and covers 420+ data brokers
  • DeleteMe: Starts at $6.97/mo and covers 85-262 data brokers

Cloaked web app dashboard

Cloaked doesn't offer a free trial. While checking out, the site claims there's a 30-day money-back guarantee. However, I couldn't find this guarantee listed elsewhere on the website, and the chatbot said there was no guarantee.

Verdict: 4.5/5. Cloaked is a good value for the identity protection extras it includes. But it's priced higher than competitors like Aura that also offer complete digital privacy suites, and there's no clear money-back guarantee or free trial available. It also lacks custom removals that dedicated data removal services like Incogni and DeleteMe provide.

Cloaked security features

Cloaked has many standout digital privacy and security features. It lets you create email and phone aliases, monitors the dark web, and offers $1 million in identity theft insurance. All plans also include a password vault, random password generator, and VPN.

Verdict: 4.5/5. Cloaked offers removals from 1,000+ data brokers and other websites, on top of providing a digital privacy suite.

Types of data removed

Cloaked asks you to provide the following personal information, which is used to delete your data from the internet:

  • Name
  • Birthdate
  • Age
  • Emails
  • Phone numbers (current and past)
  • Physical addresses (current and past)
  • SSN

Cloaked doesn't offer data removal services specifically for family members' names, financial data, employment information, or education records. However, they may be removed incidentally when Cloaked opts you out of data broker sites.

Data broker and people-search sites covered

  • # of sites covered: 350+ data brokers and 650+ other sites

Cloaked does monthly scans to look for your information on data broker and people-search sites. When it finds your data, it will automatically send a request to delete your profile. In some cases, opt-outs are only available manually, and Cloaked will notify you.

The dashboard shows the specific data broker sites that have your information and the progress on getting your data removed.

Cloaked is also very transparent about its coverage and lists the data brokers and other websites monitored.

Reports

I didn't get any recurring reports, but I received an email when Cloaked successfully removed my personal information from a data broker site. Those emails included a small tracker of completed removals.

I could head over to the main dashboard in the web app at any time to check the removal progress. I could see every site that had deleted my data, plus the ones that Cloaked had already contacted and was waiting to hear back from.

Alerts

Real-time alerts are only available if you signed up for identity and dark web monitoring. Cloaked monitors dark web forums, marketplaces, Telegram channels, and even Discord servers to scan for your personal information and Social Security number.

If it discovers something, it will send you an alert on your phone and give instructions on what to do next. 24/7 response support can help you reset passwords, freeze your credit, and more (though support wasn't the most helpful during testing).

Recurring and custom removals

Cloaked scans data broker sites on a monthly basis. When it finds your information, Cloaked will automatically send an opt-out request.

Unfortunately, Cloaked doesn't offer custom removals. If you found your data on a people-search site that isn't covered in its removal list, you have to initiate the opt-out request yourself. Learn more about manual data removal in our guide.

Automations (Exposures)

Cloaked uniquely offers a seamless way to automatically remove your information from data broker "packs." Automations run locally on your smartphone and require an internet connection. I tested 41 automations, and while some required completing a CAPTCHA, most were handled with a simple click.

Bonus features

Cloaked has a lot of cool features to help create aliases, block spam, and keep your browsing private.

Call Guard: Call Guard blocks unwanted calls and spam. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to test it out because it doesn't work with my phone provider. However, if you use a popular carrier like AT&T, Mint Mobile, T-Mobile, or Verizon, you should have no issue setting up Call Guard.

CloakedVPN: A VPN can encrypt your traffic and mask your IP address. This VPN is powered by PureVPN and available on iPhone and Android. I did a quick test with WebRTC Leaks, and CloakedVPN was able to mask my IP address.

Phone number alias: I used the app to set up a cloaked phone number. Instead of giving out your real phone number to companies, you can give them this phone number alias. When someone sends a message to the cloaked phone number, you'll receive a notice in the app.

Digital aliases: Cloaked has a seamless process to create a digital identity for a new account. It will generate an alias for a phone number and email address. The company will use it to contact you, and all messages get redirected to your Cloaked inbox. You can also create a username and password.

Chromium-based browser extension: The browser extension makes it incredibly convenient to generate identities and create new accounts. You can also use it as a password manager. It works on Chrome, Brave, and Edge.

Password manager: Keep your passwords secure with a password manager. Cloaked makes it easy to import your login credentials from a password manager, browser, or CSV file.

Does Cloaked keep your data safe?

Because you hand over a lot of personal information when you use a data removal service, taking extra precautions to make sure your data is safe with these providers is a must. The two most important parts are encryption and sharing or selling data to third parties.

When it comes to encryption, the standard protocol is AES-256. However, Cloaked doesn't reveal what kind of encryption it uses. It just states that there is end-to-end encryption with a zero-knowledge architecture. This means that no one can see your data, not even Cloaked.

The good news is Cloaked has a clear privacy policy about what data it collects and what it does with your information. There are no surprises about how Cloaked plans on using your data.

Cloaked also backs its privacy claims with independent audits. It holds ISO 27001 (security) and ISO 27701 (privacy) certifications and has completed SOC 2 Type 2 and PCI DSS v4.0.1 compliance audits — a strong set of third-party credentials for a data removal service.

As a bonus, Cloaked does have two-factor authentication for your account. You can set it up to receive an authentication code by text message or email.

Cloaked customer service and reputation

Email or live chat Yes — support@cloaked.com
Phone Yes — +1 (888) 857-5490 (Mon–Fri 9am–8pm EST, Sat–Sun 9am–1pm EST)

Cloaked has 24/7, U.S.-based customer support. You can contact them using live chat directly in the app or on the website. You connect with a chatbot first, but you can ask for a human representative. Other options include email and phone (though phone support has limited hours and is based in the EST timezone).

I reached out to Cloaked support via the web app and email for help. The iOS app gave me an error when I tried to cancel my subscription, so I emailed support to cancel for me, but I was still charged for the next cycle. I emailed again asking for a refund but never received a response. The third time was the charm when I emailed again and reached Kit, the AI support agent. Kit was able to resolve my issue within minutes.

Cloaked user reviews

  • Trustpilot rating: 3.8

Many user reviews focus on the great customer service they received from Cloaked. The majority of people gave the service a 5 out of 5 rating. Reportedly, the customer support team was quick to respond and help fix their issues (except when it comes to cancellation).

But that low 3.8 Trustpilot score is because some users weren't happy with the app functionality. They had issues setting up and accessing their account. An overwhelming complaint was that Call Guard messed with their phone and intercepted all calls and messages. Users also reported receiving more spam calls after signing up.

Verdict: 4.75/5. User perception is mixed, with some citing the service and support as excellent, while others had a bad experience with app functionality and Call Guard. In testing, we experienced glitches in both the iPhone and Android apps.

Bottom line: Is Cloaked good?

Overall, Cloaked is a good option if you want a seamless way to generate a fake identity to share with companies. The browser extension makes it easy to create an account with masked information.

It also offers robust removal from data brokers and other websites, but the process isn't fully automated. The mobile apps can also be glitchy. Even still, Cloaked is a good value if you want identity theft prevention perks like dark web monitoring, a password manager, and a VPN powered by a trusted brand.
