Cloaked Review 2026: Is the Hybrid Privacy App Worth It?

Cloaked is a legit data removal and privacy app. In our latest test, it removed 40 exposures in 16 days. It also includes email and phone aliases, a VPN, and $1 million in identity theft insurance. But it doesn’t offer custom removals, and it costs more than Aura Data Removal.

Cloaked takes a two-pronged approach to protecting your data. First, it makes it easy to create temporary email addresses and phone numbers so websites aren’t collecting your real data. Second, Cloaked has a decent data removal process to stop brokers from selling your profile. With an “automations” feature for mobile, Cloaked helps scrub your data and digital footprint from 350+ data brokers and 650+ other sites.

In my Cloaked review, I break down my firsthand experience testing the app on desktop and mobile, plus results from our latest retest. Here’s what I learned.

Our experience

Signing up starts with a free phone number scan. After Cloaked confirms your number with a verification code, it looks for your information on data broker sites.

I was floored when the results came back. With just my phone number, Cloaked found out my name, age, current and past addresses, past phone numbers, birthday, and the first three digits of my SSN. It also managed to list my ex-boyfriend's dad as someone I knew.

Creating an account was straightforward. Cloaked asks for your name, phone number, address, email, and birthday. Your SSN, past phone numbers, and past addresses are optional.

After sign-up, Cloaked prompted me to download the app. It turns out the app has tools the web version doesn’t, including spam call protection and your alias phone number. Both versions are easy to use, but the Email Guard tab was glitchy and didn’t load on Android or iPhone.

The initial scan reported 16 compromised records. After a couple of days, Cloaked removed all 16 records from three data broker sites. On iPhone, I also used Cloaked’s automations to remove my info from dozens of other sites in health, retail, tech, media, and entertainment.

We retested Cloaked with a new account on September 29, 2026. After 16 days, Cloaked had removed 40 exposures: 18 names, 10 addresses, eight email addresses, and four phone numbers. Another 22 data broker sites were still in progress. Cloaked counts each piece of personal info it removes as one exposure, so a single broker profile can hold several.

Cloaked prices and plans

Cloaked offers plans for individuals, couples, and families (up to 4 including yourself), with pricing ranging from $9.99-$29.99/mo depending on how many people are covered and the subscription cycle (monthly or annual).

What's nice about Cloaked is that subscriptions are based on the number of users, so features and data broker coverage aren't paywalled to a higher-tiered plan. However, Cloaked is priced higher than comparable digital privacy suites like Aura Data Removal.

Cloaked doesn't offer a free trial, but it does offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. Keep in mind you will need to contact support to receive a refund within the initial period. 

If you cancel, you keep access until the end of your billing period.

Cloaked security features

Cloaked has many standout digital privacy and security features. It lets you create email and phone aliases, monitors the dark web, and offers $1 million in identity theft insurance. All plans also include a password vault, random password generator, and VPN.

Types of data removed

Cloaked asks you to provide the following personal information, which is used to delete your data from the internet:

• Name
• Birthdate
• Age
• Emails
• Phone numbers (current and past)
• Physical addresses (current and past)
• SSN

Cloaked removes relatives’ names that show up on your broker profiles, and you can add family members to your info sheet. But it doesn’t cover family members as separate people unless you’re on the Couple or Family plan. 

Cloaked doesn’t remove financial data, employment information, or education records specifically. However, they may be removed incidentally when Cloaked opts you out of data broker sites.

Data broker and people-search sites covered

Cloaked does monthly scans to look for your information on data broker and people-search sites. When it finds your data, it will automatically send a request to delete your profile. In some cases, opt-outs are only available manually, and Cloaked will notify you.

The dashboard shows the specific data broker sites that have your information and the progress on getting your data removed.

Cloaked is also very transparent about its coverage and lists the data brokers and other websites monitored.

Reports

I didn't get any recurring reports, but I received an email when Cloaked successfully removed my personal information from a data broker site. Those emails included a small tracker of completed removals.

I could head over to the main dashboard in the web app at any time to check the removal progress. I could see every site that had deleted my data, plus the ones that Cloaked had already contacted and was waiting to hear back from.

Alerts

Real-time alerts are only available if you signed up for identity and dark web monitoring. Cloaked monitors dark web forums, marketplaces, Telegram channels, and even Discord servers to scan for your personal information and Social Security number.

If it discovers something, it will send you an alert on your phone and give instructions on what to do next. 24/7 response support can help you reset passwords, freeze your credit, and more (though support wasn't the most helpful during testing).

Recurring and custom removals

Cloaked scans data broker sites on a monthly basis. In our retest, the dashboard showed a countdown to the next scan, set 30 days after we signed up. When it finds your information, Cloaked will automatically send an opt-out request.

Unfortunately, Cloaked doesn't offer custom removals. If you found your data on a people-search site that isn't covered in its removal list, you have to initiate the opt-out request yourself. Learn more about manual data removal in our guide.

Automations (Exposures)

Cloaked’s automations remove your information from groups of data broker sites, which Cloaked calls “packs.” Automations run locally on your smartphone and need an internet connection.

I tested 41 automations. Each pack started with a tap, but a lot of them needed me to confirm my information or complete a CAPTCHA. That got tedious. I also had to keep the app open while the automations ran, so the process wasn’t hands-off.

Bonus features

Cloaked has a lot of cool features to help create aliases, block spam, and keep your browsing private.

Call Guard: Call Guard blocks unwanted calls and spam. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to test it out because it doesn't work with my phone provider. However, if you use a popular carrier like AT&T, Mint Mobile, T-Mobile, or Verizon, you should have no issue setting up Call Guard.

CloakedVPN: A VPN can encrypt your traffic and mask your IP address. This VPN is powered by PureVPN and available on iPhone and Android. I did a quick test with WebRTC Leaks, and CloakedVPN was able to mask my IP address.

Phone number alias: I used the app to set up a cloaked phone number. Instead of giving out your real phone number to companies, you can give them this phone number alias. When someone sends a message to the cloaked phone number, you'll receive a notice in the app.

Digital aliases: Cloaked has a seamless process to create a digital identity for a new account. It will generate an alias for a phone number and email address. The company will use it to contact you, and all messages get redirected to your Cloaked inbox. You can also create a username and password.

Chromium-based browser extension: The browser extension makes it incredibly convenient to generate identities and create new accounts. You can also use it as a password manager. It works on Chrome, Brave, and Edge.

Password manager: Keep your passwords secure with a password manager. Cloaked makes it easy to import your login credentials from a password manager, browser, or CSV file.

Does Cloaked keep your data safe?

Because you hand over a lot of personal information when you use a data removal service, taking extra precautions to make sure your data is safe with these providers is a must. The two most important parts are encryption and sharing or selling data to third parties.

When it comes to encryption, the standard protocol is AES-256. However, Cloaked doesn't reveal what kind of encryption it uses. It just states that there is end-to-end encryption with a zero-knowledge architecture. This means that no one can see your data, not even Cloaked.

The good news is Cloaked has a clear privacy policy about what data it collects and what it does with your information. There are no surprises about how Cloaked plans on using your data.

Cloaked also backs its privacy claims with independent audits. It holds ISO 27001 (security) and ISO 27701 (privacy) certifications and has completed SOC 2 Type 2 and PCI DSS v4.0.1 compliance audits — a strong set of third-party credentials for a data removal service.

As a bonus, Cloaked does have two-factor authentication for your account. You can set it up to receive an authentication code by text message or email.

Cloaked customer service and reputation

Cloaked has 24/7, U.S.-based customer support. You can contact them using live chat directly in the app or on the website. You connect with a chatbot first, but you can ask for a human representative. Other options include email and phone (though phone support has limited hours and is based in the ET timezone).

I reached out to Cloaked support via the web app and email for help. The iOS app gave me an error when I tried to cancel my subscription, so I emailed support to cancel for me, but I was still charged for the next cycle. 

I emailed again asking for a refund but never received a response. The third time was the charm when I emailed again and reached Kit, the AI support agent. Kit was able to resolve my issue within minutes.

Cloaked user reviews

• Trustpilot rating: 3.7/5

Many user reviews focus on the great customer service they received from Cloaked. The majority of people gave the service a 5 out of 5 rating. Reportedly, the customer support team was quick to respond and help fix their issues (except when it comes to cancellation).

But that low 3.7 Trustpilot score is because some users weren't happy with the app functionality. They had issues setting up and accessing their account. An overwhelming complaint was that Call Guard messed with their phone and intercepted all calls and messages. Users also reported receiving more spam calls after signing up.

Bottom line: Is Cloaked good?

Overall, Cloaked is a good option if you want a seamless way to generate a fake identity to share with companies. The browser extension makes it easy to create an account with masked information.

It also offers robust removal from data brokers and other websites, but the process isn't fully automated. The mobile apps can also be glitchy. Even so, Cloaked is a good value if you want identity theft prevention perks like dark web monitoring, a password manager, and a VPN powered by a trusted brand.
