DeleteMe vs. Incogni review at a glance

Data brokers, sometimes called information product companies, constantly collect personal information about you. Then they turn around and sell that information to third parties for marketing, advertising, or malicious purposes. Your information is a hot commodity on the internet.

It’s possible to scour the internet and manually delete your data, but that could take countless hours. Data removal services automate the process and scan hundreds of data broker sites to find your info for you. DeleteMe and Incogni both offer good data removal services, but the main difference is the extras.

DeleteMe offers additional security features, such as email, phone, and card masking. With Incogni, you can bundle your data removal service with Surfshark’s top-notch cybersecurity products, such as a secure VPN, antivirus protection, an ad and tracker blocker, and more.

DeleteMe plans

DeleteMe offers a free scan that shows where your information is, but to remove your information, you need a paid plan. All three DeleteMe plans offer the same features but vary based on who is covered and how long the coverage lasts.

DeleteMe doesn’t offer a free trial, but you can request a full refund before your first privacy report. Once you receive a privacy report, you can request a pro-rated refund.

  • 1 Year, 1 Person: This plan offers a data broker opt-out, email, card, and phone masking, as well as privacy reports every 3 months. DeleteMe doesn’t offer any real-time protection or any additional security features.
  • 1 Year, 2 People: This plan covers 2 people for data broker opt-out and improves security with email, card, and phone masking. Users receive privacy reports every 3 months.
  • 2 Years, 2 People: For 2 years, 2 people receive data removal service coverage, including data broker opt-out, email, phone and card masking, as well as regular privacy reports.

Incogni plans

Incogni offers two plans, Individual and Friends & Family (covering up to four people), with the same features in each. The plans can be purchased as monthly or annual subscriptions. Incogni doesn’t offer a free trial, but it does offer a 30-day money-back guarantee and an anytime cancellation policy.

  • Individual plan: Incogni plans include data broker opt-out and removal from marketing lists and features transparent data removal reporting. But it lacks privacy reports and additional security features like email or card masking.
  • Friends & Family plan: This plan is exactly the same as the individual plan but allows you to invite up to four people to share the services.

Winner: Incogni is the better value overall. It covers a good amount of data broker sites for a competitive price, with more room for extra people under one plan. Plus, you don’t have to commit to a full year with Incogni.

In terms of monitoring and features, DeleteMe and Incogni are similar. Both offer solid data removal services from hundreds of data brokers. However, some key differences set these two data removal services apart.

DeleteMe covers nearly three times the number of data brokers that Incogni does. DeleteMe covers over 750 data brokers, whereas Incogni covers less than 200. That’s a sizeable difference in the coverage you receive. Incogni does offer marketing list removal, which DeleteMe lacks.

Additional features

DeleteMe offers extra features to boost online security, like email, card, and phone masking. Email masking helps reduce malicious spam by creating a forwarding address that reroutes to your real email address. Phone masking uses a temporary phone number to block your identity, while card masking hides your real credit card information.

The absence of these extras doesn’t mean Incogni isn’t a good service. Both DeleteMe and Incogni do what they intend to do: remove your personally identifiable information from the internet. But the bonus features are nice.

The standalone Incogni plan is more straight forward, but you can get loads more features if you opt for the Surfshark One+ bundle instead. This includes:

  • One of the best VPNs we've tested — Surfshark
  • Ad blocker
  • Email mask generator
  • Personal info generator
  • Antivirus
  • ID theft alerts

Winner: When looking at the standalone products, DeleteMe has the better features. But Incogni takes the cake if you extend the field to include the feature-packed Surfshark One+ bundle.

Incogni is a user-friendly, automated tool. We signed up, entered our email address, and created a password. The Incogni dashboard confirmed we were not found on the databases it scans. Incogni contacts data brokers without you having to do anything else, so we sat back and waited while Incogni filed the official data removal requests. Customer support with Incogni is a little lackluster, offering online guides, a FAQ page, and an email address for customer service.

The Incogni dashboard, showing 99 requests in progress.

Similarly, DeleteMe was easy to set up, install, and get those data removal requests rolling. DeleteMe’s dashboard is intuitive and easy to use, with the main screen displaying information about your most recent report. In the dashboard, you’ll also see questions from DeleteMe concerning potential personal data breaches or exposure. We were impressed with how quickly DeleteMe delivered our first report. We submitted our data sheet on a Monday morning and received our first report Saturday morning. We appreciated the reports feature from DeleteMe.

DeleteMe offers slightly more robust customer support options, including an email address, phone number, and live chat. We reached out via chat and found the customer care representative responsive and informative.

Winner: DeleteMe narrowly squeaks out a win. The interfaces were extremely easy to navigate, and customer support was similar. We’d love to see a 24/7 customer service option, but having multiple avenues of communication to interact with a person on the other end gives DeleteMe a slight edge.

Not only does DeleteMe scan over 750 data brokers for your personal information, but it also offers bonus features like email, card, and phone masking. If you want a full cybersecurity package, Surfshark One+ includes Incogni, plus way more — like a top-rated VPN, email masking, antivirus, and more.

Does DeleteMe actually work?

Yes, DeleteMe actually works. Our report statistics showed over 2,000 data listings were reviewed, and 41 were actually removed. Data privacy is more important than ever before, and having a removal service that actually works is paramount to keeping yourself safe online.

How much does Incogni cost?

Incogni offers a monthly or annual subscription. You can pay $14.98/mo or $7.49/mo (billed annually).

DeleteMe vs. Incogni: Which is better?

We recommend DeleteMe as the superior data removal service over Incogni, though it's a close race. Not only does DeleteMe scan more broker sites, but it also provides email, card, and phone masking to increase your online privacy.

Incogni is a no-frills data removal service that is a bit cheaper than DeleteMe. The real win here is you can grab the Surfshark One+ bundle to get all your cybersecurity needs in one — including a top-rated VPN, email masking, antivirus, and more.

But if you're specifically looking for data removal, we recommend DeleteMe.
