DeleteMe pros and cons

DeleteMe is arguably one of the best data removal service on the market, but access to automatic removal requests from 153-750+ data brokers and people-search sites comes at a high cost.

DeleteMe is a comprehensive privacy solution that helps protect your identity from scammers, stalkers, and other bad actors, but it can't be bundled with other cybersecurity software like Incogni.

Pros
  • Removes personal, sensitive information from 153-750+ data brokers
  • Provides privacy reports every three months
  • Includes email, phone, and card masking
Cons
  • No marketing opt-out list
  • Not all sites are included with starting costs

Incogni pros and cons

Incogni is an easy-to-use "set-and-forget" data removal service that, like DeleteMe, initiates automatic removal requests. However, unlike DeleteMe, Incogni offers unlimited custom removals with its top plan.

Incogni also covers hundreds more data brokers compared to DeleteMe's count. Deloitte validated Incogni's coverage of 420+ data brokers in August 2025.

The biggest downside is that Incogni has a higher starting price than DeleteMe. DeleteMe offers two-year plans, which are more affordable than Incogni's annual plan. But Incogni includes all 420+ data brokers on every tier, so you'll get more with this starting price.

You can also get Incogni for a more affordable price as part of the Surfshark One+ cybersecurity bundle. Plus, the bundle includes advanced privacy tools that rival DeleteMe's features.

Pros
  • Removes personal, sensitive information from 420+ data brokers
  • Sends recurring removal requests every 60 to 90 days
  • Audited by third-party firm Deloitte
Cons
  • Has a higher entry price than DeleteMe

Incogni covers hundreds more data brokers and people search sites than DeleteMe. The Unlimited plan also provides unlimited custom removals, which includes an additional 1,000+ websites.

These sites extend beyond data brokers and people-search sites. These custom removal requests include business and company information sites, educational forums or boards owned by educational institutions, legal resources and some court record sites, and more.

Both services will scan for new listings at least every 90 days, making it worthwhile to purchase an annual subscription for continuous coverage. Incogni sends recurring removals every 60 days to public data brokers and every 90 days to private data brokers.

DeleteMe will send quarterly reports, while Incogni sends monthly reports to keep you updated on their progress.

Additional features

DeleteMe offers extra features to boost online security, like email, card, and phone masking. Email masking helps reduce malicious spam by creating a forwarding address that reroutes to your real email address. Phone masking uses a temporary phone number to block your identity, while card masking hides your real credit card information.

The absence of these extras doesn’t mean Incogni isn’t a good service. Both DeleteMe and Incogni do what they intend to do: remove your personally identifiable information from the internet. But the bonus features are nice.

The standalone Incogni plan is more straightforward, but you can get loads more features if you opt for the Surfshark One+ bundle instead. This includes:

  • One of the best VPNs we've tested — Surfshark
  • Ad blocker
  • Email mask generator
  • Personal info generator
  • Antivirus
  • ID theft alerts

DeleteMe vs. Incogni: value

DeleteMe's starting price is slightly lower than Incogni's, but DeleteMe's starting plan doesn't cover all of the data broker sites available. On the flip side, all Incogni plans cover 420+ brokers, so you get more value out of your money (and it's way less confusing).

DeleteMe plans

All DeleteMe price plans vary based on who is covered and how long the coverage lasts. You can choose to get an individual plan, a couple plan for yourself and one other person, or a family plan to cover four individuals. You can also choose between one and two-year plans.

All plans come with a data broker opt-out, email, card, and phone masking, as well as privacy reports every three months.

Once you've signed up, you'll have the choice to upgrade your coverage based on how many data brokers you want to be scanned. You can choose between Standard, Business Gold, Diamond, Platinum, and VIP.

DeleteMe doesn’t offer a free trial, but you can request a full refund before your first privacy report. Once you receive a privacy report, you can request a pro-rated refund.

Incogni plans

Incogni offers two plan types: Standard and Unlimited, which are available for individuals or families (up to five people).

  • Standard: Incogni includes data broker opt-out and removal from marketing lists and features transparent data removal reporting. The plans can be purchased as monthly or annual subscriptions.
  • Unlimited: This plan adds unlimited custom removals, so you can request your data be removed from more than just data brokers and people search sites. However, you can only buy it as an annual subscription.

Incogni doesn’t offer a free trial, but it does offer a 30-day money-back guarantee and an any time cancellation policy.

Winner: Incogni. It doesn't paywall certain sites behind higher tiers, so you get access to everything off the bat.

Both DeleteMe and Incogni collect substantial amounts of data, but this is expected for the service they're providing. You submit your personal details like your full name, home addresses, phone number, and more for any people-search site listings to be located and taken down.

DeleteMe and Incogni's privacy policies both mention using your personal information for marketing and promotional messages, but you can opt out of this.

In August 2025, Incogni became the first data removal service to be audited by a third party.[1] Deloitte verified the following Incogni claims:

  • Incogni doesn't sell your data
  • Incogni has zero affiliation with data brokers

Deloitte also confirmed Incogni's covered data brokers and its cadence for removal requests.

Both DeleteMe and Incogni use military-grade encryption with AES-256. Incogni specifically uses AES-256-GCM, which runs faster.

Winner: Incogni. Although both services share similar data, Incogni has been audited by a third party to verify those claims.

Incogni is a user-friendly, automated tool. We signed up, entered our email address, and created a password. Incogni contacts data brokers without you having to do anything else, so we sat back and waited while Incogni filed the official data removal requests.

The Incogni dashboard, showing 99 requests in progress.

Incogni has a couple of options for human support, including live chat and email. Plus, it has a cleanly organized knowledge base with sections on getting started, subscriptions and billing, features, and more.

Similarly, DeleteMe was easy to set up, install, and get those data removal requests rolling. DeleteMe’s dashboard is intuitive and easy to use, with the main screen displaying information about your most recent report. In the dashboard, you’ll also see questions from DeleteMe concerning potential personal data breaches or exposure.

We were impressed with how quickly DeleteMe delivered our first report. We submitted our data sheet on a Monday morning and received our first report Saturday morning. We appreciated the reports feature from DeleteMe.

DeleteMe privacy report summary of results

DeleteMe also offers several customer support options, including email, phone, and live chat. We reached out via chat and found the customer care representative responsive and informative. DeleteMe's customer support is available Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST.

Finally, DeleteMe and Incogni have similar Trustpilot scores, but Incogni's score is higher. DeleteMe reviewers mention a noticeable decrease in spam after using the service, its user-friendly dashboard, and helpful support. Incogni reviewers mention how effective the service is and the peace of mind that it brings.

Winner: Incogni. It was a tight race, but we gave Incogni the win because it offers 24/7 customer support, while DeleteMe's support hours are limited.

Top alternative

We consider DeleteMe and Incogni to be top-tier data removal services; however, when selecting the best data removal service for your needs, you should also consider advanced privacy features, security, and price points.

DeleteMe vs Aura

DeleteMe focuses almost entirely on removing personal info from data brokers and people-search sites, with broad coverage and regular reports. It’s stronger at pure removal but lacks extra features.

Aura, on the other hand, removes data from fewer brokers but bundles that with credit monitoring, ID theft insurance, VPN, and other security tools.

In short: DeleteMe is better for deep data removal, Aura for all-around identity protection.

Incogni vs Aura

Incogni also specializes in data-broker removals, with wide international coverage and lower pricing. It outperforms Aura in sheer removal scope but doesn’t include credit monitoring or device security.

Aura offers those broader protections, though with fewer removals and higher cost.

Not only does Incogni scan more broker sites, it also allows for unlimited custom removals on other types of sites. Incogni has also been audited by Deloitte, so you can trust its claims on these data broker numbers.

DeleteMe has its own benefits, including two-year subscriptions for more savings and plans for couples. But if you're looking for straightforward and extensive data removal, we recommend Incogni.

How we test and rate data removal services

We take testing data removal services seriously, using a consistent approach across 10+ services to give you reliable information to make the right choice.

We sign up for each service 1-4 weeks before our full review begins. This gives the service time to find our personal information across the web, contact data brokers to remove it, and show us how well their process actually works through real results and reports.

The best services reach out to hundreds of data broker and people search sites, not just a handful. We make sure services don't just send one removal and call it done. Instead, we look for companies that actively monitor these sites and follow up when your information pops back up (because it often does).

Our final ratings consider several key factors: how well the service works, whether it's worth the price, how they protect your information, and how easy it is to use. We also factor in customer support quality, since you'll want help if issues come up.
