FastComet Review 2025: A Beginner-Friendly Web Host with Solid Performance

FastComet is a budget hosting provider with solid performance and strong security. But how does it hold up against competitors like Hostinger and Bluehost?

FastComet is a decent web hosting provider that we recommend for small- to medium-sized businesses as well as professionals who want affordable shared hosting without sacrificing reliability. During our tests, it consistently delivered on its promises with good speeds, constant uptime, and straightforward management and support.

You get a clean dashboard that integrates with cPanel for more fine-tuned web hosting management, along with SSL certificates, daily backups, Cloudflare CDN, and the Imunify360 security suite, which includes web application firewall (WAF) features.

More than anything, though, it was FastComet’s performance that made an impression on us. Over the testing period, we recorded 100% uptime, with zero response failures during our stress testing.

That said, there are a few shortcomings to note. FastComet’s UI, while simple and functional, is dated compared to popular options like Bluehost and Hostinger. The built-in website builder is also fairly basic, lacking AI features and CMS functionality.

However, you can still install more than 300 third-party CMS tools through FastComet’s Softaculous integration, including WordPress and Magento, but this requires working with a separate page builder or template for your design.

Pros
  • Excellent performance and uptime
  • Free backups and migrations
  • 24/7 customer support
Cons
  • Dated interface
  • Price hikes on renewal
  • Basic website builder

How we test web hosting services

We use our proprietary grading rubric to evaluate web hosts based on performance, ease of use, features, support, and overall value. Our hands-on approach ensures our ratings reflect how each service actually performs in the real world, so you can choose a host with confidence.

Our process starts with signing up for each service and setting up a real website, just like you would. We run page speed, uptime, and stress tests to measure reliability and performance under load. We also explore the dashboard, test security tools, and contact support to see how responsive and helpful it is.

Our experience

FastComet strikes a good balance between features and accessibility. Getting started is straightforward enough. We purchased the Starter web hosting plan, logged in, and were greeted by the FastComet dashboard. Everything was neatly arranged into categories such as Hosting & Servers, Domains, and Websites, making navigation simple.

dashboard

Once logged into cPanel, we had a few options to start building our website. We could choose the FastComet website builder, which will work for static pages but doesn’t come with AI or CMS tools. We could also use the Sitejet website builder offered by cPanel. Alternatively, we could install 300+ other platforms, such as WordPress and Magento, accessible with one click through Softaculous.

setup

We chose the last option and got started with a basic WordPress installation, which took less than a minute, using the Softaculous installer. This gave us access to all core WordPress features, including templates, plugins, and the Gutenberg editor.

softcalous

At this point, we had already configured our custom domain. FastComet lets you search and register domains directly from the dashboard, with over 500 extensions to choose from and all the necessary settings for DNS configuration. That said, domain configuration was spread between FastComet’s dashboard and cPanel, with some settings available in only one but not the other.

By the time we were finished, we had a basic but functional WordPress site set up and ready to go. We didn’t spend too much time customizing our WordPress configuration or design, as these are based on standard WordPress features outside the purview of FastComet.

test site

Verdict: 4/5. FastComet is easy to use and quick to set up. It offers all the usual web hosting features, along with a basic website builder and 300+ third-party apps that can be installed through Softaculous. That said, it does have a dated interface that feels less modern than those offered by some of its competitors.

FastComet plans and pricing

FastComet offers four shared hosting plans, ranging from $1.79/mo to $4.99/mo when billed annually (with an increase to $8.95/mo to $24.95/mo upon renewal). The key differences between them include storage, monthly bandwidth, the number of supported websites, and advanced features like caching plugins.

FastComet’s web hosting prices sit comfortably in the category of budget hosting, with competitors like Hostinger charging $2.99/mo for 25 GB of storage and support for 25 websites.

When your plan renews, however, FastComet’s prices are slightly more expensive than those of competitors like DreamHost. FastComet offers value through its Cloudflare CDN integration and Imunify security suite, though.

For $3.59/mo, the Plus plan lets you host a website with 30 GB storage and up to 50,000 monthly visits. If you manage multiple websites as a digital consultant or agency, we recommend the Extra plan at $4.99/mo as the best option of the four. It’s also worth upgrading to Extra if you want to benefit from the additional performance boost of WordPress’ LiteSpeed Enterprise web acceleration, which is included with the plan.

At the present time, there is no free trial for FastComet.

Verdict: 4.4/5. FastComet has affordable shared hosting plans starting at just $1.79/mo, but prices rise sharply with renewal after your subscription period ends. You can also host only one website per plan, unless you upgrade to the Plus plan for $3.59/mo.

FastComet hosting features

FastComet doesn’t hold back when it comes to features, with CDN integration, daily backups, SSL certificates, malware scanning, and staging environments all built in. We did expect a bit more from the website builder, though, which seems insufficient for modern business needs.

Verdict: 5/5. FastComet offers a wide range of features with its hosting plans, including a free CDN, SSL certificates, the Imunify360 security suite, and Softaculous for WordPress installation.

Types of web hosting available

Although we mostly dealt with the Shared hosting plans in our testing, FastComet also offers other web hosting types, like Cloud VPS, managed WordPress and Magento hosting, and dedicated hosting.

website builder

Web building features

FastComet offers its own website builder, which is a basic no-code editor designed for static websites. It supports 350+ templates and 40+ customizable widgets to help you achieve the layout you want. The designs are somewhat dated and lacking in features, though, and there’s no AI interface.

If you want a more complex site, we suggest pursuing a WordPress installation through Softaculous, which allows you to access tens of thousands of plugins and templates, offering greater flexibility in how you build your website.

WordPress integration

FastComet lets you access the full WordPress hosting experience, thanks to its Softaculous cPanel integration. You just enter your site name, choose your domain, and create login credentials, and you can get a functional website delivered to you within seconds, with all the core features and plugins installed as well as updates already enabled.

Web migration

FastComet doesn’t offer a free website migration tool, but it does have a white glove service for migrating your site from other web hosts with the help of its support agents.

Everything is taken care of, and all you have to do is provide the necessary credentials so that FastComet’s agents can access your website database and files. The Starter and Essential plans allow for one free website transfer, while the Plus plan allows for two, and the Extra plan allows for three.

Bonus features

FastComet’s Imunify360 integration brings a whole bevy of security features at no additional cost, including WAF, malware scanning, DDoS protection, and patch management.

You also get daily backups with JetBackup, free SSL certificates, Cloudflare CDN integration, and two-factor authentication support for apps like Google Authenticator and Authy. In cPanel, you can access the AWStats integration for detailed website analytics, along with the server monitoring offered in FastComet’s dashboard.

FastComet performance

For our web hosting reviews, we put providers through various performance tests to measure their uptime, loading speeds, and resilience against stress testing. Here’s how FastComet performed in our tests.

Verdict: 5/5. During our performance tests, FastComet delivered 100% uptime, an average speed score of 98/100, and positive stress test results, with zero HTTP failures.

Speed test

We tested FastComet’s server speeds from Montreal, Dallas, and Strasbourg using DotCom-Tools. Loading speed impacts user experience, and it’s a crucial ranking factor for SEO according to Google, making it a key metric for site performance.

FastComet speed test results

Product Performance score FCP LCP
FastComet average 98/100 0.5 s 0.7 s

FastComet achieved a high average performance score of 98/100 with a First Contentful Paint (FCP, when the first item on the page loads) of 0.5 seconds and Largest Contentful Paint (LCP, when the largest item on the page loads) of 0.7 seconds. There were also no noticeable slowdowns when we manually visited each page of the site ourselves, corroborating these results.

Uptime and response

We use UptimeRobot to constantly monitor our test websites throughout the review period to get an estimate of the server uptime. This is important, as server issues will prevent users from accessing your site, costing you traffic, sales, and conversions.

Product Uptime Average response time Minimum response time Maximum response time
FastComet average 100% 133 ms 101 ms 311 ms

FastComet logged 100% uptime (against a guarantee of 99.9%) in our 3-day test period, with an average response time of 133 milliseconds and a maximum response time of 311 milliseconds. That means there were no instances of the server going offline during our tests, and users were able to quickly reach the site even during peak hours of activity.

Stress tests

Stress test results: FastComet passed our stress test.

While most web hosts function well during normal hours, a spike in activity — when lots of users try to access your site at the same time — can cause servers to struggle to keep up. This might happen if your brand suddenly went viral or during sales periods for online stores.

We used Loader.io to see if FastComet could handle pressure. We sent 250 requests through virtual users in a single minute to see if it would cause the server to slow down or go offline. To its credit, FastComet logged 250 successful responses, and every virtual user was able to access the site without issue. There were no HTTP errors, slowdowns, or downtime issues during our stress tests.

FastComet security features

With the alarming number of public data breaches reported every day, you want to make sure that your web hosting server doesn’t have vulnerabilities that could enable malicious actors to breach your website. FastComet offers a huge number of complimentary tools to help with security, including SSL certificates, two-factor authentication, and the Imunify360 security suite for malware scanning and firewall protection. Here are some highlights:

  • Imunify360 suite: This is an entire package of online security tools, including WAF, malware scanning, brute-force protection, and DDoS prevention.
  • Daily backups: FastComet backs up your website daily, and Starter, Essential, and Plus users can retain past versions of their site for up to 7 days, while Extra plan users get 30 days of backups.
  • Two-factor authentication: FastComet lets you enable 2FA in a few clicks using its dashboard or cPanel interface, so you can use Google Authenticator or Authy to generate one-time passwords when logging in.
  • SSL certificates: FastComet includes complimentary SSL certificates for all plans, encrypting data between your site and your visitors so hackers can’t intercept sensitive information.

Verdict: 5/5. Lots of security features come free with your hosting plan, including two-factor authentication, SSL certificates, WAF, DDoS protection, and data backups for 7 to 30 days.

FastComet offers 24/7/365 support, including live chat, phone support, and a well-maintained knowledge base filled with helpful information.

We tested the live chat service and were connected to a support agent in under a minute. They responded to our WordPress installation query immediately, but we had to raise a technical support ticket for a more involved domain verification issue.

FastComet user reviews

Trustpilot rating: 4.7/5

FastComet gets a glowing 4.7/5 rating on Trustpilot, with more than 3,000 reviews.[1] Personalized support is a big selling point for the provider, with many users praising the customer service team in their reviews. That said, there are a few complaints about renewal prices and transparency.

On G2, FastComet gets a solid 4.4/5 with 60 reviews logged.[2] Reddit users voice a similar sentiment, with mostly positive reviews aside from a few complaints about price hikes during renewal.

Verdict: 4.9/5. FastComet has solid reviews and ratings on Trustpilot and G2, and Reddit sentiment is also fairly positive. The only gripe that reviewers mention is the rise in monthly costs after renewal.

Top FastComet alternatives

FastComet is a decent and affordable web hosting service that’s a good choice for most users. However, if you're looking for more specialized WordPress support or a more modern dashboard UI, you may want to consider alternatives. Here’s how it stacks up against Bluehost, Hostinger, and IONOS.

Bluehost

Bluehost is officially recommended as a hosting provider by WordPress.org, with plans that include free SSL certificates and up to 100 GB of high-speed NVMe storage. It also has a more polished dashboard and UI, though it has higher initial pricing.
