Kinsta Review 2025: Does The Service Match The Price?

Kinsta is good, but it’s also expensive. Let’s find out whether Kinsta's WordPress hosting service is worth the price.

Kinsta does a lot of things amazingly well, but charges amazingly high prices to match. I would recommend it only to the people who actually need what a specialist WordPress hosting provider can offer.

Kinsta offers several types of web hosting, but it’s very, very focused on managed WordPress hosting. Kinsta does all the technical setup for you when you first sign up, offers extensive customer support, and includes practically every possible feature that you could want in a WordPress setup.

It’s fairly easy for beginners to get started, and Kinsta offers a range of developer tools, along with a solid suite of security features and a reputation for reliability. In this review, we’ll go over Kinsta’s details and whether it’s worth its high price tag.

Pros
  • WordPress-focused web hosting
  • Almost all features are available on all plans
  • Great performance
Cons
  • Very high prices
  • Occasionally overwhelming admin UI

How we test web hosting services

We use our proprietary grading rubric to evaluate web hosts based on performance, ease of use, features, support, and overall value. Our hands-on approach ensures our ratings reflect how each service actually performs in the real world, so you can choose a host with confidence.

Our process starts with signing up for each service and setting up a real website, just like you would. We run page speed, uptime, and stress tests to measure reliability and performance under load. We also explore the dashboard, test security tools, and contact support to see how responsive and helpful it is.

Our experience

My overall experience with Kinsta was — admittedly — like walking into a new workplace and finding out everything I needed had been set up for me in a way that made sense. I could just sit down and start customizing.

The setup was easy. You just have to sign up for the plan of your choice and put in your payment info. I was automatically given the first month of web hosting free.

From there, the rest is done for you. I picked a default template along the way, and was soon presented with Kinsta’s dashboard.

From there, I went to the WordPress sites section to manage the details of the WordPress installation.

And I checked out the home page of the site I built.

All in all, with the setup and basic site creation already taken care of for me, using Kinsta was a breeze.

However, I found the price to be too off-putting, and I likely wouldn’t use the service unless it introduced a bigger discount.

Verdict: 5/5. Kinsta's dashboard is nice to use and very beginner-friendly.

Kinsta prices and plans

It’s expensive. We’re talking $30/mo on the low end, and $375/mo on the high end — for the annual plan. Mind you, that’s not counting the Enterprise plans, which are even pricier.

The plans themselves are fairly simple. You can get plans that give you only a single WordPress site install. However, higher tiers of the Single plan include WordPress Multisite, which lets you run multiple sites on a single installation. Then you have the WP plans, which allow multiple WordPress installations, including WordPress Multisite.

In terms of features, there are hardly any differences between the plans. On the higher tiers, you get more WordPress site installations, storage, bandwidth, and days of backup retention, among other things. The more expensive plans also come with dedicated account managers to help you out.

You can choose between two limiting factors for your traffic: bandwidth or site visits. If you have a lightweight site that gets tons of visitors, go with billing based on bandwidth. If you host big files for a select few visitors to watch or download, go for site visits.

Whether you choose bandwidth or site visits, it doesn’t affect the other features available to you, except for the Single 750K plan. With bandwidth billing, you get 30 days of website backup retention, but only 20 days with site visit billing.

Compared to the average cost of other web hosts, Kinsta is asking a lot for a feature set you can find with most of its competitors. I wouldn’t go for anything more expensive than the Single 35K, unless you need a multiple-site plan. The Single 35K has almost all the same features as the rest, and performed well in our testing.

Verdict: 4/5. Kinsta’s prices are higher than comparable plans from other web hosting services. For most people, even the great overall user experience won’t justify the asking price of the higher-tier plans.

Kinsta features

Kinsta’s managed WordPress site hosting and WordPress-related features are the main focus of the whole service. But here’s a more detailed overview of what you can get:

  • A few different kinds of web hosting, including hosting for static sites
  • WordPress site integration that essentially raises the bar for the industry
  • Assisted website migration
  • A number of handy features for developers

Verdict: 3/5. Kinsta doesn’t have the most features, but the ones it does have are well implemented.

Types of web hosting available

The different types of hosting include: the usual managed WordPress hosting (which we tested), static site hosting, application hosting, and database hosting.

Everything on the list that’s not WordPress is less of a focus for Kinsta and is priced accordingly. For example, you can host up to 100 static sites for free, with a 100 GB bandwidth limit per month.

WordPress integration

WordPress installation with Kinsta is done automatically with minimal input from you. Also, Kinsta’s servers, security, admin tools, and everything else are specially tailored to make your WordPress experience the best it can be.

Web migration

Even the cheapest plans come with free assisted WordPress site migration. Just give the Kinsta support team the details they need to copy your site during setup, and you’re done. Plans that let you install multiple WordPress sites include unlimited free assisted migrations.

Bonus features

Every plan comes with advanced developer tools such as SSH and SFTP access, as well as Git. While not beginner-friendly, these are features that — if you hire a team of developers for your web hosting — will come in handy.

Also, Kinsta comes with a built-in suite of analytics and performance tracking features, so you always have an idea of how your site is doing.

Kinsta performance

We test web hosts with a variety of online tools to see if the performance actually lives up to the hype. We tested Kinsta with Dotcom-Tools, UptimeRobot, and Loader.io, and it did very well.

Verdict: 5/5. Kinsta offers fast and stable speeds, along with great stress test results.

Speed test

I used the Dotcom-Tools speed test to see how fast the site loaded from Montreal, Dallas, and Strasbourg, and to get an overall performance score. I tested how long it takes to reach the First Contentful Paint (FCP), when the first objects load, and the Last Contentful Paint (LCP), when everything is loaded.

Usually, you want your whole site to load in under 2 seconds to keep people from clicking away.

Product Performance score FCP LCP
Kinsta average 98 0.8 s 0.9 s

The test went fantastically, and my own experience matches the numbers. Just browsing around on the site feels snappy and just about instantaneous.

Uptime and response

Our preferred tool for testing a service's overall uptime and how long it takes the server to initially respond to requests is UptimeRobot. This test ran for around 17 days, and Kinsta more than lived up to its guarantees in that time with 100% uptime.

Product Uptime Average response time Minimum response time Maximum response time
Kinsta average 100% 173 ms 82 ms 296 ms

There were no interruptions in service. Moreover, the average response time is honestly great. And while there were fluctuations in the minimum and maximum response times, the maximum response time was so low that I’m not really worried about it.

Stress tests

Stress test results: Kinsta passed the stress test.

For our stress test, I used Loader.io to send 250 virtual users to the site in the space of a minute to simulate a moderate traffic spike. There were no failures, and the site maintained an average response time of 76 ms under load, which is a fantastic result. This is good because website performance is what Kinsta uses to justify its prices.

Kinsta security features

Kinsta bills itself as a host for business and enterprise users who need their own customers’ data to be kept secure for both reputational, legal, and moral reasons. Given that, it’s a good thing that Kinsta does a pretty good job of security. It includes the following features:

  • 2FA: Mandates two-factor authentication through Google Authenticator or a similar app, to keep your account safe.
  • Malware scanning and a dedicated malware team: To protect your site from being hijacked or hacked
  • Hardware firewalls: To protect against DDoS attacks and other threats better than software firewalls
  • Regular uptime checks
  • Automatic security updates

Verdict: 5/5. When it comes to security, Kinsta offers strong protective features.

Support type Kinsta Support

Online guides or forums Both

Kinsta offers 24/7 support via live chat. I personally didn’t use it, because I didn’t run into any problems whatsoever. Beyond the chat, there’s email and phone support, as well as a knowledge base with some long, in-depth, and well-written guides that can help you learn more about how to host a website. There’s also a forum and after looking it over, I can say that the Kinsta staff is helpful and responds fairly quickly.

Kinsta user reviews

  • Trustpilot rating: 4.8

Overall sentiment on review sites such as Trustpilot and G2 is quite positive, with Kinsta maintaining a strong rating. Somewhat more surprising are the generally positive views found on Reddit. While, as you might expect, plenty of people are less than enthused about the price, many rate the actual quality of the service quite highly.

Verdict: 4.4/5. Kinsta provides multiple ways to contact its support team.
