ID Resolve Review 2025: Is It More Than a Restoration Service?

ID Resolve is billed as a complete identity monitoring system; we found it met some expectations while falling short on others — chiefly, the full functionality of features.

ID Resolve provides comprenhensive identity restoration services but is lackluster for proactive protection. The Basic plan doesn't offer any identity or credit monitoring while ID Resolve 360 only includes one-bureau credit scores and monitoring.

But if you're a victim of identity theft, ID Resolve will have your back. Along with U.S-based identity restoration experts, you'll receive lost wallet protection, credit freeze assistance, up to $500 in emergency cash, and much more.

How we test and rate identity theft protection services

To review identity theft protection services, we sign up for the service several days prior to our review. This allows the service time to begin populating our dashboard with identity and credit monitoring information and send us real-time alerts. During this time, we also evaluate the service's ease of use, contact customer support, and play around with the extra features.

After spending some time with the service, we use our proprietary grading rubric which calculates a star rating based on prices, identity monitoring features, credit features, and other criteria.

To learn more about how we test, check out our full ID theft testing methodology here.

We last tested ID Resolve on March 11, 2025.

Our experience

We have reviewed a lot of identity theft protection products, and this one threw us at the start. Normally there’s a grace period where the service collects data about you from around the internet, but ID Resolve actually wouldn’t even let us activate our account for the first 48 hours.

Once we were in our account, we entered items to be monitored and activated our credit services. You can also submit your email address to learn if it has been exposed in a data breach or reach out for resolution assistance.

ID Resolve dashboard

We found that the subscription pages weren't clear about what kind of identity monitoring is available and how many credit bureaus are covered.

We were impressed with the ScamAssist® feature, where you get personalized assistance in identifying a variety of scams on your phone, texts, social media accounts, email, and more.

ID Resolve's ScamAssist help form

We’re constantly helping our older relatives increase their scam awareness, and this would be an amazing resource where they could check every time they’re concerned they may be getting scammed.

We like that ID Resolve has lots of features to restore our identity, but it may work best when combined with a more comprehensive monitoring service.

Who is ID Resolve best for?

  • Recommended for extensive identity resolution for vitims of identity theft

ID Resolve isn't the most robust proactive service, but both plans include plenty of help if you've become victim to identity theft. You'll receive lost wallet assistant, an emergency cash advance, translation services, credit and security freeze assistance, and more.

If you want a service with a lot of extra features, including data broker removal, security tools like a VPN, and more identity theft insurance, you may want to find another provider.

ID Resolve prices and subscriptions

ID Resolve ranges from $13.25-$24.92/mo. There are two different protection options (Individual or Individual + Spouse) at two different levels (ID Resolve and ID Resolve 360).

You can also choose to pay annually or monthly, but there are no savings on the long-term subscriptions.

So, there are technically four plans you could purchase. Each plan offers a different price point that’s reasonable, with ID Resolve 360 for Individual + Spouse maxing out at $22.42/mo.

Plans comparison

IDResolve also has two tiers: ID Resolve and ID Resolve 360. The basic ID Resolve plan almost exclusively provides identity restoration services. These include U.S.-based resolution experts, ongoing dispute follow-up, lost wallet assistance, and more.

ID Resolve 360 can monitor your identity, financial accounts, insurance documents, and other items. You'll also receive up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.

ID Resolve 360 also features that are unique as far as ID theft protection. The email health checker lets you know if your email address was compromised in a recent data breach.

It’s because of these extras that we would choose this plan if ID Resolve were the service we were using. It’s definitely worth the few dollars extra for those useful additions.

Features

The basic ID Resolve plan only includes features for identity restoration. ID Resolve 360 offers standard features like credit and financial account monitoring as well as fraud alerts.

It also has some unique features like an email health checker and scam assist. It even offers cash advances if you suffer an identity theft while abroad and find yourself locked out of your credit or debit cards.

What does it protect against?

ID Resolve 360 helps you prevent identity theft and provides you with resources to check for scams.

All the areas ID Resolves protects:

  • Social Security number (SSN)
  • Addresses
  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Financial accounts
  • Frequent flyer cards
  • Social media accounts

Identity monitoring

ID Resolve’s identity monitoring dashboard covers a variety of different accounts and services. The categories include Essentials, Financial Well-Being, Identity, Cards and Documents, and Insurance Documents.

Within these categories, you have everything from medical insurance monitoring to scanning your IP address for fraud. If ID Resolve does come across something of concern, its alerts center will let you know when it happened and where.

Credit monitoring

The credit monitoring feature is supposed to watch anything related to your SSSN. That means if there are any data breaches and your Social Security number is up for sale on the dark web, monitoring services can alert you right away.

ID Resolve provide alerts by having you enter your information and then verify your SSN. Once we entered this information, our credit score and report were populated.

Credit reports and credit scores

ID Resolve provides your Equifax credit score and credit report, but there's no clarity on how frequently as either of these were updated.

ID Resolve credit services tab showing credit score and what affects your score

Your credit score is used to determine if you can get a loan for new things like a car or a home, but it also determines how much you pay for those items. A lower credit score means you’ll be paying higher interest rates for purchases. It could also stop you from being able to purchase a home or rent an apartment.

Keeping an eye on your credit will help you understand your buying potential and if you’ll be accepted or rejected for that purchase. In tandem, credit bureau monitoring can help you prevent identity theft.

A VantageScore between 661 and 780 is considered good and will generally make getting a loan easier.

Identity restoration services

If you do become the victim of identity theft, ID Resolve says it will work with you and other agencies to make sure your name is restored.

On the dashboard, you can select the Resolution Services section for links to its 24/7 resolution center and a list of all the protection ID Resolve can provide:

  • Identity theft affidavit assistance and submission
  • Creditor notification, dispute, and follow-up
  • Credit and security freeze assistance
  • Medical identity theft assistance
  • Locate local authorities
  • Translation services
  • Lost wallet assistance
  • Emergency cash advance
  • Emergency travel arrangements and journey continuation

Bonus features

ID Resolve offers device protection and ScamAssist®, a scam checker that allows you to submit potential scams for review. This is a great tool, especially if you're always receiving strange emails, texts, and calls.

ID Resolve 360 also includes a device protection suite including DataScrambler for anti-keylogging, PhishBlock for anti-phishing, and RansomStop protection. These features largely work in the background to keep you protected.

Does ID Resolve keep your data safe?

ID Resolve’s privacy policy was standard and in accessible language. We didn’t see any mention of ID Resolve sharing our personally identifiable information with third parties for the purposes of marketing or “advancing interests,” which is something you may see in some privacy policies.

IDResolve also repeatedly mentions that it will not sell your data to third parties. Overall, we feel good about this privacy policy.

ID Resolve does use two-factor authentication (2FA) for adding and deleting data, as well as for the initial login and a few other features. We found it easy to use but would have preferred the 2FA every time we logged in, considering how much private data is contained within our dashboard.

Compatibility

We could access ID Resolve's web portal on our Mac and PC, but we didn’t see an app in the Apple Store or Google Play store. This is a little disappointing.

While we could log in via our Safari browser on our iPhone, functionality is always a little better through a secured app.

Customer support

We did need to reach out to customer support because we weren’t able to set up the credit monitoring feature. We decided to call and found the menu didn’t actually cover our issue. We had to press a lot of options to get through to the hold line.

After several minutes, we were given the same message that every call center gives — that ID Resolve was experiencing high call volumes. After seven minutes on hold, we were sent to a live agent who then placed us back on hold to check our account.

The support guide tried resetting our ability to sign up for credit monitoring, but it didn’t work. He then told us maybe we should try hardwiring our computer into our router, which wasn’t really doable on a MacBook without specialized cables and converters. Overall, we found phone support to be completely unhelpful.

FAQs

Is ID Resolve worth it?

ID Resolve is a useful service with a few hiccups. We didn’t love that we couldn’t access the service immediately and had to wait 48 hours to log in. We also really disliked the customer service options.

Our choices consisted of waiting for an email or spending time navigating an automated menu and then being kept on hold. Other than that, we found the service to be useful and included interesting features like monitoring our gamer tags.

Does ID Resolve offer a free trial?

We were unable to find a free trial available for ID Resolve, so we suggest only subscribing for a month to see if this service works for your needs. If you do want to continue, we suggest purchasing the annual plan to save money.

Is it worth getting identity theft protection?

Identity theft protection is always worth it. Identity theft is on the rise, and experts estimate there’s a new victim every 22 seconds. The internet has made it easier than ever for criminals to inflict a variety of identity theft scams, so why not use the same technology to protect yourself?

Follow best practices to safeguard your identity and prevent identity theft.

Bottom line: Is ID Resolve good?

ID Resolve is best for victims of identity theft but it's not the most comprehensive if you're trying to stay vigilant of identity theft. ID Resolve's features are effective but they're limited if you want more than basic identity and credit monitoring.

We would recommend that if you want to try this product for yourself, you could sign up for a month. If you don’t think you want the hassle but do more monitoring, try a different product. You can browse the best identity theft protection services to find one that fits your needs.

Whatever you decide, ID theft protection is worth it. Up to $1 million in identity theft reimbursement is the real deal. Like car insurance, it’s the kind of product that when you need it, you really need it.
